Hello Arul,i dont think that speaker cable will produce tight bass, after all its only supposed to send the signal to your speakers.Speaking purely personal i,d go for either a sub to complement your existing speakers, or get better speakers, say transmission lines................Dave

Arul,
Better speakers are the answer in the long term, but the cable can help a bit. Chord and eccosse both tend to be bright and detailed. Maybe a more rounded cable would help, perhaps some Linn K20 or similar?
Transmission Line speakers are great (I own two pairs of PMC), but need a good power amp to get the best from them, even the little ones. (although PMC show fairly high sensitivity, there's no doubt they are crisper with a good power amp).
ofc, a REL205 sub or similar will add heaps of extension, but make sure you buy a sub with a low roll-off - the cheaper ones tend towards 75-80hz rolloffs, suited to sub-sat systems - you really want a sub that rolls off at 25-50hz, or you won;t get the benefit in hifi.

Best bet is to make sure they are as 'solid' as possible. Are they on good stands? They really need to be. Also if the stands can be filled then do so. ANY movement of the speaker at ALL is at detriment to the overall sound. Also I personally found a a good 'mains cable' to the amp should get you a good solid bass increase. Nothing accounts for better speakers mind. Also are they biwirable? if so id highly recommend that to.

Audioquest Copperhead (circa £60 for a 1m pair) made a difference for me - I'd been using Nordost Blue Heaven's but although impressive, they were too forward and a bit thin sounding in some ways. Moving to a copper based cable made a big difference. Just out of interest, doing the same for your speaker cable might help a bit. I use Audioquest Type IV, single strand copper solid core and it's fine for the job. Connects up between a pair of Mission 752s and a Marantz 6010 KI-Signature amp. Gives a bit more warmth and weight to the sound (though it could be beefier, but that an amp change at some point in the future) and it might be worth trying to find some on the used market, Ebay, etc. Normally retailed for around £5.50 / £6 a metre around 1998.

Hi 'the_record_spot' IMO pissing around with cables will do nothing, playing with mains cables will do nothing, changing the amp might do a little but not alot. Now I hate to agree with Rik H here but his advise 'Best bet is to make sure they are as 'solid' as possible. Are they on good stands? They really need to be. Also if the stands can be filled then do so. ANY movement of the speaker at ALL is at detriment to the overall sound.' Is better than most... John...

John. I speak from my personal experiences with mains cable, interconnects AND speaker cable. You know this You dont even USE mains power on your amp, so I dont see how you can POSSIBLY comment on that.

Hi Arul, I had the QED silver for speaker leads - i found it bass light. I now use kimber. Maybe try kimber 4tc or 8tc if that is to expensive try 4pr. Kimber cables tend to have a fairly solid bottom end. The other one to try is eichmann - the bass tends to be fatter and fuller but not as tight as the kimber - but it is slightly rolled off at the top end. Maybe change your interconnects to chord cobra 3 they tend to have a full bottom end or even the chord crimson- I have a nordost blue heaven but the bass is leaner but its very open up the top and mids. The kimber pbj is a good buy second hand too. Maybe given you too many options - on a tight budget try kimber 4pr and chord crimson interconnects. Cheers, Steve.

Hi Steve, Arul, another thought before spending anything. Try moving the speakers nearer a wall, that will certainly reinforce the bass, but if still not enough then try a corner position. Also your listening position can make a great difference. John...

Very true that John. Though id never suggest a corner as corners tend to really BOOM the sound.

Two years odd on and I would be inclined to agree. Though the bit about the amp not doing a lot is woefully off the mark. Moving from the amp I had two years back (Marantz PM6010-KI) to a Sansui AU-717 with no other changes blew the other amps I'd heard up to £1500 out the water. This includes a Leema Pulse (Mk2) a Harman Kardon HK990 and an Exposure 3010s2. Caned the lot of them and by a country mile. The depth, scale and dynamism in the music is stunning.
As for cables...solid core copper or multi-strand generic types will do just fine. Although, if going branded, then the ones I mentioned above will do the same job. I went backwards from branded to unbranded and there was no difference, hence, all the branded cables were sold off.
And yes, moving the speakers around can make the biggest (cheap) difference of the lot, but if that fails, tune the sound of the system by changing a component and not a brand of cable manufacturer.
