Maybe I come across as a bit serious but not really, apart from the 911 thread and I do take that very seriously. The car sounds fantastic, 0-60 in 4.5 wow that is serious, 150+ that could get you locked up. Strange how almost all Hi-Fi buffs like a fast car, maybe something in the mindset. John... I like the idea of 'post our perceptions' it would be loads of fun and instructive!

Hi All, John,- Electro, getting used to johns replies and i know now he means well, electro until you said your age i had thought of you as in your middle thirties, and very energetic, good idea on perceptions thread, but not all perceptions may be taken light hearted ? but worth a laugh ----Go for it Electro Cheers both ..Carl.

Hi Electro, IMO No red-blooded male could look at a VX220 and not want one ....Kids have posters of cars like this on their walls!.....Following on from what John was saying....every time I've seen a "hairy-chested" sports car on the road and cast an admiring glance towards it e.g. BMW Z3, ....it's invariably being driven by a woman (!) Not that I have anything against women drivers and sports cars but the psychology of it (as per John's rationale) then becomes very perplexing..... So next time instead of the Cable Blind Test meeting, I propose the "VX220 Test" in which you invite everyone to your place for a Review!! (When you get one) ...and besides....after 2 generations of MR2, John should be able to explain the psychology of sports cars a lot easier than us !! (Heh heh!) All the best mate.........................Bill.
......P.S. Electro.....will you still be able to stretch to a Dartzeel after you acquire the VX220..?? If you can.....that's a disgusting display of vulgar wealth...(and I wish it was me!).....
Hi All, Bill your right about women and sports cars, but around these parts it is older men re living a lost youth in MGs Midgets, trouble is they think they look cool, but the look the women give out is who's that tw??, older men in sports cars is not a babe magnet ? sorry but that is the way it is.????? Got to say though love the car well done Vauxhall.

Hi Carl, I confess that my image of Electro differed somewhat.... It consisted of a Hugh Hefner lookalike (but years younger) with a huge fat cigar...covered in bling...lying on a sunbed beside a luxurious swimming pool with 10 tanned and healthy bikini-clad Playgirls draped all over him...with barely enough elbow room to compose his next message to AVR .........(Just kidding Electro !! ) Hi John, I only wish I was as prosperous as the perception suggests. With Hifi it's more a case of doing what I can as finance allows... Take care....best regards..................................Bill.

Hi John, I promised you a story...and rather than type it I found an account....which I knew would interest you as parts of that original turntable were also used in 2001 Space Odessey.... http://www.transcriptors.net/history.htm In fact I'm sure he said the turntable had been nicknamed the Odessey...and it either claimed it's name from the movie....or the movie claimed it from the turntable....????? All the best, Bill.

Perhaps we should stop worrying about cables and join 'top gear' for a race around the track, personally I would love to meet Mr Clarkson. Maybe with a VX220, an MR2 and a Ferrari for comparison, oh and a Ford focus, just to provide a stsrt point. And Bill maybe my love of sports cars is an expression of the 'feminine side', or the love of speed and power, personally I say it is the ability to accelerate out of trouble rather than slow down. As for disgusting display of vulgar wealth we're not talking Bentley Continental, anyway at what price does a car become 'vulgar wealth', is a four bed detached house in a few acres 'vulgar wealth', probably not, but worth far more than a top end sports car, or even a two bed flat in Chelsea. Sorry but having looked at Dartzeel, any preamp for £15000 is not just an expression of 'vulgar wealth' it is complete madness, who even needs a preamp in the CD era Maybe Gerald has something to say on this, being a self confessed madman
...Of course that should read "2001 A Space Odyssey"......
Hi John, Great idea Indeed..and an MR2 is very good at both accelerating and slowing down due to that perfect weight distribution....and the way it instantly puts it's power down on the road with very little waste....it's almost eco-friendly.....ok...perhaps that's stretching things a bit

Thanks Bill, fascinating, I never knew they were that famous

Hi all, Unfortunately I am trying to sell my old house at the moment which will fund any improvements to the new house plus any toys I want to buy, so there may be some delay in getting the VX 220. The only reason I want it is purely for my own selfish pleasure , there is nothing like the feeling of being catapulted forward at warp speed a few inches from the ground , turning into a series of bends and getting the line just right with the gorgeous noise of the engine just behind your head. I'm not worried about looking cool or impressing the ladies, it's all about me and for me, i will probably do a few track days with it too. Bill, I think i will be forced to make a choice between vx220 or dartzeel, but what a fantastic choice i can't loose either way but seeing as my Electro's are so good the winner is a foregone conclusion. I know what you mean about young women in sports car's it just seems wrong somehow , but that's just me being sexist. This is about as near as anyone is going to " review " my toy see below. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=3z5pqT7lfuE

......Now you are just torturing us Electro..... As soon as I saw Clarkson standing next to it I thought...."How is he going to get into that !!" ....and so it proved ...Are you SURE you want the Dartzeel????... All the best............................................Bill.

Electro, Go for it, you deserve it, glad ME time has come for you, good luck thinking of changing car myself but got to think of future tax petrol etc: so it will be small snail for me ?

Hello all, I have been asked by my psychiatrist to try out some new medicine to see if it will help with a permanent cure for my psychical problems. The last time they changed my medication for the problems I am having with my type two diabetes, breathing and high blood pressure it caused a chemical imbalance and affected my mental state, as you will have noticed. I was then sectioned because of my behaviour. He said that the new medicines may cause me to have mental problems again so be ready for some crazy posts from me on here It seems I should do all the normal things I usually do, so you may see read some crazy things I write. I have been told that I will be un sectioned if that is the word, when they cure my psychical problems and they can see that the medication I am on will not cause me any mental problems in the future. I am going to start on my new medicines on Thursday If they do cause problems I will be taken off them again and back to normal. Then more changes until they get it sorted out. Regards from a sane Gerald PS I have been reading some of the things I said and it was most amusing, I did not know how crazy I sounded but I did have a laugh,

Sorry guys but who could compare a car to a preamp, this really is a 'no brainer' at least a car does something whereas for the most part we never even need a pre-amp. Whatever the future tax petrol etc. It will be far cheaper than public transport, even in a 4X4 gas guzzler. Spoken in a Northern accent, when I was a lad public transport was far cheaper than driving, so if Mr Brown or any of his clowns want us to use it then it has to be cheaper, after all if I were to go to Wiltshire as I often do then driving, about £15 in juice, a three hour journey, by public transport, probably six hours and £35 and then a cab fare to the final destination. Get real Mr public transport, do you wonder that we all enjoy a car, and a sporty car is so much more fun than sitting on a train Forget the snail, go for something you enjoy

Gerald, rather than be un-sectioned, personally I think you should be CULLED for the good of mankind and the country generally, you owe it to society, do me a favor and take up euthanasia as a hobby.
