Carl,

No wonder everyone in Wales can sing!!...

When my family call me names I usually shout back "I resemble that remark !!"

Kind regards.....Bill

To Carl, did google that and it sounds wounderfull. maybe I can keep off the booze long enough to make a pot then live on it for a week, probably a little more healthy than Special Brew.

Very interesting, I had never thought of AV-review as a site for recipes but it seems to be so.

Now my grandmother used to make 'welsh cakes' I think that is what they were called, a wonderful snack, I never did get the recipe for them, but I do remember that she had an 'iron' to bake them on, I do have a 'griddle' so maybe I could use that?

This is a whole lot more interesting than cables.

Mind you I have this week written a four page article on cables, I hope to persuade Dave Oliver to publish it here sometime however it would probably go 'against the grain' of thinking, so he may not like it at all. It is a serious look at the realities of cables and the perceptions, an attempt to separate physics from imagination.

Sorry to 'go into one here' but perception is exactly that, what we perceive, that is what we see, that is our world, weather that is true or not does not seem to enter into the equation.

Hello All A.V.Recipes Review, sounds good, but i think Mr O might draw the line here.Carl i understand about Wales and Religion,my wifes[Boss No1]great grandmother was treated as an outcast as she was considered to be a witch,it seems that in fact she was a Herbalist,no eye of toad, bollocks of newt or whatever,Boss No1,s rantings in Welsh dont include "Dick Head" its just that she rants on in Welsh and intersperces it with F......ing this or that, and i was just wondering why the swear words were in English, and the rest in Welsh, and no mate you didnt bore me,friends dont do this ok.Going to treat my Revoxes to upgrade cables, any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated, price wise per unit of around£1-200 for two sets of cables per unit[line in line out]......Take Care All.........Dave

Guys, I've got no problem with you discussing recipes if that's what you want to do - so long as the ingredients don't include chopped and grated cable manufacturers. Probably best to put them in their own thread though, so as not to startle unwary audiophiles.

Good point Dave, so maybe you would not like my piece on cables, could I mail it to you anyway?

Dave Mellor that is how is it possible to spend £200 on a few cables? What are they phono, jack or XLR, whatever they are I can not imagine that they should cost more than £50 the lot, maybe a bettter deal from Maplin than some Hi Fi dealers but please no more than £50.

Ther you go Carl, straight back to leads, 'juss like that'.

Saved my bacon, not your welsh rabbit, now how did that name get assosiated with cheese on toast?

Carl on looking back over the postings I love the sound of Parsley Dumplings, maybe some unresolved Welsh in me yet, but also some unresolved cable issues!

Hi John, All,

Re: cheese on toast - this is "Rare bit" not ( rabbit )?  Probebly cheese rare way back !!!!

Dave you stick to XLR plugs, wish my HIFI had these ?

Have we chased all away or are they too busy cooking ?

Now this site is becoming an education

Well at last something sensible on this site, receipes are much more interesting then all this rubbish about cables and connectors, keep them comming chaps.

Anyone got a receipe for Jewish chicken soup also known as Jewish Penecillin cures all the ills of the world, and tastes fantastic, even if it is not gold or silver plated and is not oxigen free.

Oh my god - spoken with an American accent...

Maybe donate him a dictionary or teach him how to use the spell check

Dave Oliver no news from you then, my article is now 3333 words would you like that, and not even offensive, simply a study into cables and the effects, an insight into reality, an insight into the Hi Fi fraternity.

Hello All,your suggestions will be noted John, thanks, the figure i quoted was only for referance though and not the intended proposed outlay,i will probably get Chord as this is whats on them already.Carl if you like XLR,s so much why dont you get a convertor,i,ve got a catalogue somwhere i,ll dig it out and give you the address,i think if memory serves correctly it was by Time Windows,or Sutton,or was it McCintosh, whatever,i,ll dig it out and let you know,A recipe for Jewish Chicken Soup???is that the one with pidgeon in it,or is that the joke,i do recall chicken surprise soup that was made out of rabbit,......sorry guys this is getting out of hand........Take Care All...........Dave

OK Dave as you know I am a little sceptical about spending much on cables.

To Carl, the XLR standard is for a 'balanced' connection, therefore to convert from phono to XLR connectors has no advantage as it will still be unbalanced and all you will be doing is adding more metal-metal interfaces in the loop, no gain there.

I'll try google searches for recipes from now on
