Well I hope so as Gerald is just a silly old c**t, he talks a load of b*****ks but can be quite entertaining sometimes. I remember many years ago a video head of department saying about a new upstart 'for fifty ponds a day' he is worth it for entertainment value alone.

Yes, they do. but the difference is the equivalent of moving your head about 2mm when you are listening to loudspeakers a couple of metres away. In other words, the same effect applies to any wave travelling through a medium only the effect is far more profound when a pressure wave travels through air than an electrical signal through copper.

An electrical signal through co-ax goes at roughly 60% of the speed of light (c). Sound goes through air at errr....the speed of sound. Divide one by the other and you'll see my point.

The range for electrical cables is roughly .5c to .9c. As shown above, this variance is of little consequence if you listen to the audio via loudspeakers, presumably in an air-filled room. This is also why so-called linear phase loudspeakers are a bit of a joke. Unless your head is clamped in a vice while you're listening, what's the point?

Now come on Pluto, linear phase speakers were a brilliant idea, well in theory, that is until one realises that phase is not a thing that our hearing actually picks up on.  OK correct a problem that was never a problem that seems t be what Hi Fi sales is all about.

The number of solutions out there that will cure problems that never existed in the first place is monumental, however the number of solutions to the real problems is sadly lacking.

I think we will all agree that the real problem is the electrical to sound interface ie the speakers and listening room, these are the areas that need addressing. Cables, stands and supports are nowhere near the truth, they are as insignificant as the cleanliness of my gas stove.

I really do think the Hi Fi world needs a wake up call, like come on guys get your act together, look at the real issues, stop pissing around with all the peripheral stuff that actually make no difference, stop kidding yourself with placebo beliefs lets concentrate on actually improving reproduction.

Lets take reproduction to a new and better level, now that won't happen by pissing around with cables, it won't happen with passive pre-amps or exotic cable weaves but it could happen though a new speaker design, in fact that is the only way it could happen, maybe a new recording standard but let the rest catch up first and IMO speakers are still way down the list.

OK maybe that last statement was a little exaggerated, but I am learning my writing style from Mr. Clarkson and excessive exaggeration is his way, I remember he stated that XYZ celeb star got her hair done for 'the price of a small house' it is all exaggeration as are most cable claims.

Surely if you are an ex employee you could repair it yourself ! but I'm sure it won't be a problem because they never go wrong, and if certain people are to be believed you can replace the innards with components from maplin for a few pence , so it's problem solved no need to worry !

Is Isol 8 affected as well ? I know there are some legal issues between the two companies , perhaps you have some inside information on the battle between Isol 8 and Isotek and possibly the Isotek corporation in the US. ?
