Sorry Carl but what the hell are you on about, This copying test will always give the same results if you copy sub standard recording you get substandard like for like and hear no difference Who suggested the original was 'sub standard' what the test proves is that there is no change therefore it matters not a jot what the original was, or is, if there is no change then that is the answer, NO CHANGE, what are you out to expect?

How do you come to have 'substandard discs' in the first place?, no one else has!

The digital information on a disc is all there is, no 'hidden tracks' to describe 'soundstage' or 'virtual image' there is only one recording, and that contains all the information you can ever hear, so excuse me, if copying this same information correctly again and again results in no 'bit pattern' change then the recording is identical, by that I mean the same in every way, the same depth, the same sound stage the same everything, this is the beauty of digital. If you find that hard to believe then take a year off and learn about digital techniques. Quite honestly many of you talk such a load of... on this site that I find it not true. Sound reproduction is a science, it has no voodoo, it has no 'unknowns' it has no 'mystic' it is a science. Now today I had the opportunity to hear a 'cylinder' player of a hundred years ago and I have to admit it sounded truly awful, so Hi Fi has progressed, in fact beyond belief, however could not do a deal with the guy for his cylinder player yet, since starting this massage I have now done a deal with 'cylinder' man and agreed to buy it in April.

hi all.

This copying test will always give the same results if you copy sub standard recording you get substandard like for like and hear no difference now if you introduce the isotek disc into the mix then compare first recording prior to demagnetization with a copy that is made after demagnetization then that result would be worth seeing !!!! would it not?

Carl - I don't quite understand what you are claiming here, but if you are issuing me with some kind of challenge, I accept!

What do you want me to do to prove to you that this magnetism thing is utter nonsense?

Would you like me to de-mag it for you? It will improve the two bit sound quality. Thinking about it, that technology is probably about the equivalent of 2 bit. Plenty of dither though.

H all.

Sorry for delay but had network problems hope fully resolved now.

John - sorry if i touched a nerve - i only use computer for MP3's as the Quality is not as good as a dedicated non compressed disc to disc recorder.

Pluto i did not suggest anything about any challenge but if you do a test every variable should be in that test to get a complete outcome.!!

On the subject of  Isotek demagnetization received Email from them with link = http://www.isoteksystems.com/cds.asp       they are going to get one of their representatives to come on line to answer some of our questions - i hope he gets a better reception than i do???.

CORRY - this thread has just about as many fans as the TV prog: the number of interested people have now topped over 11000 -- i think Dave - editor -  will be in for a bonus at the end of the month

Carl - the kind of reception Mr Isotek receives depends entirely on HIS approach. Nobody will be rude to him unless that point of exasperation arrives that all logic has flown out of the window and the guy expects his products to be accepted without question. He can fully expect to have an ABX test demanded of him which, if he refuses to accept, will instantly cast doubts upon claims made by that company. Many companies at the more left-field end of the audio market prefer not to have their products subjected to ABX testing, typically with the argument that the benefits of using them only come out after extended use. I accept that there might be some merit to this argument – after all, you wouldn't judge a skin anti-wrinkle cream on just one application but, like I said, let's see Mr Isotek here and listen to what he has to say.

Hi pluto.

I agree with you - i would also like to see some data and verification on this subject just to find out if it is my ears /brain playing tricks on me??       ..carl.

 Carl,

Well done in persuading Isotek to answer some of our questions in relation to the Isotek disc, hopefully we can persuade him to clarify the technical aspects of mains cleaners as well .

I use Isotek mains cleaners, and i can say there should be no problem with ABX tests because the improvement is LARGE  and instant in my area with my system , so i presume similar effect should be repeatable anywhere. Judging by the worldwide acclaim for these products they seem to work anytime - anywhere.

The cleaner i use for my source components may take a small amount of time to learn the requirements of the equipment plugged into it after initial connection , and adjust itself accordingly but it does not take long ,  but the cleaner i use for my power amp works instantly and with indisputable results.

I hope Isotek do contribute to this forum we may be able to nail at least one of the arguments raised regularly , i for one look forward to it.

Hi electrothead...

On Istotek web site it states that the disc had an award back in 2006 by- What hi fi - tried to search for this on line but failed will have another search later - i remember Richard Black issued similar disc in choice hi fi way back - sold out at mag shop - same day ? Also asked in email for data and was told maill passed on to colleague who on holiday at moment.

Have you looked inside of your mains cleaner -( no not knocking it )- my mate bought one although he was very impressed with the performance - he was astounded by what he found inside?

Focus - since talk has not been out of player brill. - any way - looking forward to some answers?

Carl, so what did astound your mate that he found inside the 'mains cleaner', maybe a little black or red disc across the supply ?

Hi Carl,

Believe it or not, I had been labouring for a while under the misapprehension that the Isotek was a "machine" in the same mould as an "Eagle Tape Head Demagnetiser" or the "CD Clarifier".

Look forward to reading Isotek's comments too...

Kind regards,

Bill.

Carl,

Another CD worth acquiring : Tears For Fears "Everybody Loves a Happy Ending" (There's something very profound about that title!).   It was the first album they had released since the early nineties when they disbanded.   Instantly accessible.

Kind regards,

Bill.

John,

Have a look at inside, click on the link and scroll down untill you get to the picture of the Isotek nova with the lid off ,      Isotek nova inside   this is the mains cleaner i use  just for source components.

Hi all

John.. very little he described it as small boards on both ends with electronic components with bare wire connecting both ends don't know what these where did not see for myself - but have heard his system with and without mains cleaner and i could hear difference -not taking any sides over this subject but i have pure av mains and circuit protector of which i could have bought five or six for the price of his one.

Bill.. i can see where you would be confused over the two topics -I added the magnetizing mc to try to highlight that others had same anomaly - did not know they existed when i started thread -including  your contribution - come across four mc's for demagnetizing CD/ vinyl ?

Tears for fears - great sound - will try.  - Simple minds -street fighting years -fantastic  - one of my favorites.         carl...

Thanks Carl, I will look out for that album....

On Mains Protectors, one of the things that comforts me is that I am probably filtering half the street!

Kind regards, Bill.

Hi all

Click forum tab then cd player tab look at views for this thread ?????

Carl,

The disc i have was free with hifi choice , summer of 2005 issue 270 , it contains parts of the isotek disc and the musaeus ultimate stereo hearing and equipment refresher disc, ending with the hifi choice musical instrument burn-in, this may be the disk you mention.

The number on the disc is HFC2700605 , and is described as 66 minutes of warm-up,burn-in, demagnetisation tracks and more- specially designed to optimise the sound of your audio system.

Show/hide user stats

Come on guys this is pure marketing at it's best/worst.

'and is described as 66 minutes of warm-up,burn-in, demagnetisation tracks and more- specially designed to optimise the sound of your audio system'.

What complete techno mumble jumble, burn in we've discussed is a 'non starter', warm up is something equipment does on it's own, as for demagnetisation that begs the question 'what is there to demagnetise in the equipment, it can hardly demagnetise your CD collection.

Since when could playing one CD 'optimise the sound of your audio system', this I believe must have come from the concept of running a programme to 'optimise' your computer system, quite a different problem, and a totally unconnected one.

The only things that can be done to optimise your system is cleaning - laser head etc, connectors, reposition speakers, different furnishings.

No wonder they gave the disc away, again good marketing for the mag, but any attempt to sell such an item would bring them head on with 'the sale of goods act'

Hi Electrohead - John

I think this subject has and will be subject to doubt like so many other's  that cant be fully explained and to argue over if it does or does not work is wasted time but  this has been an interesting - discussion and i will be taking away more than i brought to this thread - until we have hard evidence from the makers i think that each person should draw their own conclusions i know i have - and if it is placebo effect i will take it willingly.        thank for conversation....Carl...
