Iforgot to mention four plus fours. Why anyone needs a two ton vehicle with a four litre engine to take the kids to school or even to go to work is totally beyond me. Yet the government do nothing to discourage it. (are they frightened of the middle class vote) I mean some of these things are £80,000+ isn't it wonderful
Ironic but true a, Labour party frightened of the middle class vote, give me a break. I personally drive a very small, very economic and very fast MR2, and I hate being behind one of those 4X4 monoliths, usually sticking religiously to the speed limit. In these days of 'green' credentials it seems that to travel 10 miles in your 4 litre 4X4 to recycle some plastic bottles is the trendy thing to do, maths and common sense do not appear in the equation... It strikes me that the most 'green ' verhicle to own, is the one you have, as the energy required to dismantle it and the energy required to create another is many times more than the energy that you will consume in driving it for very many years. Lets open our eyes to the bigger picture.
Thank you, music room now nearly complete, last jobs to install 4M of curtain track & curtain across one wall & 'skyline' diffusers on the other. Then I will not be on this forum for a time as I listen to every recording from 1985 to today again. Only kidding I will respond to any message as usual. John...
Today received 'loose change' on DVD, if there is any documentary out there that will convince you, that is it. Hard hitting, totally to the point and all based on real evidence and eye witness reports. Not the most relaxing of viewing, but if you have any suspicions, this is a must. Found it on e-bay. The music room is now almost an anechoic chamber, the silence strikes one the moment you close the door and the stereo image is 'pin point', IMO far more change and improvement than a grand on cables.
Whats wrong with 4x4s eh,as a pro photographer who specialises in wildlife i use a Chevrolet Blazer, the best four-wheel in the world,Land Rover,Mitsubish, especially the Shogun, are just runabouts compared to the Blazer,i,ve had that thing in places mountain goats would find hard to get to, especially in the lake district, so no more about 4x4s eh
David, at least your useing it for what it was intended for, not running the kids to school, and as John said, taking the bottles to the recycle bins, probably 90% of all 4+4's never see a patch of dirt.
Mick, sorry mate i got hold of the wrong end of the stick,my Chevy has so much dirt and mud on it i,m not sure what colour it is. Ido agree with you though, about what that presenter on Top Gear says about Chelsea tractors, they are a pain in the arse, especially if you get behind one and its towing a bloody great caravan.Ive been reading your remarks with the others on this site about 911,theories about conspiracy and subterfuge, its ok to have opinions about this touchy subject, but to people, who knew people who died on that horrible day, some of the remarks were insulting to their memory.
David, i have no idea what is right or wrong about that day, but i do listen to peoples opinions, there will always be differing opinions on every subject, when you get to around 65, water tends to run of like a ducks back, you see you listen and you keep ones own counsel.
Mick, sorry to have sounded off to you and all the others who have voiced their own opinions on this subject. Its just that i got pretty friendly with a few of the firemen who were killed on that day, i did a photo shoot about a year before it happened, and met these guys at their station house. Ifor one will never forget their friendship, i,m only sorry that i never had the chance to recipricate it, as they were due to visit me at Christmas that year. Anyway again,sorry.............Dave
I do understand the traumatic experience that the survivors and those that died must have gone through that day, I think we can all agree on that, and to feel for the people who are left behind: wives. children, parents, brothers and sisters. God bless them. We have recently had a loss in the family, our lovley nephew Daniel who died recently, of course it leaves us all heartbroken, and of course my sister and brother-in-law. I do feel and I'm sure most people do, for the people all over the world who are going through hardship. I would not think anyone would denegrate the memory of those very brave people of 911. David, do you have the whole of America to drive your 4+4 in? I can only imagine the amount of open space there is, a little different fron the English countryside which is all privately owned.
Whilst I understand the traumatics of the day, the point I am trying to make is the engineering realities.
For two of the most over-engineered, strongest buildings in the world to collapse that day does make me wonder about the reasons, every aspect I look at raises a few queries, and a few doubts as to how this could have happened.
The buildings were designed to handle a full on hit from a plane!
No steel framed building has ever collapsed in the world ever, for any reason.
Many steel framed buildings have had serious fires for many hours, like 24+ but never collapsed.
Why did tower 7 mysteriously collapse at 5:00 pm that day when it was no where near the others?
Why were towers 3,4,5, and 6 demolished within a week. (does that not have to be planned)
Why was all the scrap steel shipped out to China, without any forensic evidence being looked at.
Why did the vehicle's used to move the scrap equipped with such 'hi teck' tracking systems, that a driver who took a long lunch break was immediately sacked.
Why did anyone who did not go along with the 'official' account of events get sacked over the next few months. like police and fire personel, who were there t the scene.
Why did the original architects, who having been on TV and stated that the building was safe, and would survive such an attack, then come back a couple of days later and state that 'they maid a mistake' (gun to head comes to mind).
Why were millions of tons of concrete reduced to a fine powder dust, in ten seconds, from a fire, why were the massive steel columns reduced to handy 12 ft lengths, from a fire.
No this was no terrorist attack, it was a seriously, long term planned inside job, if one was to look at the evidence, look at the videos, look at what actually happened, understand the engineering, then it will become obvious that it was not a terrorist attack.
Sorry to get so passionate about this, but that is the way I feel.
Yes I am sorry for anyone at the time, but I think we all need to view the facts, look at them 'in the cold light of day' and understand the impossibility of the 'official' explanation.
I think that this is the last I will go on about this subject, I am very passionate about it, I have seen so much evidence to refute the 'official story, I can clearly see the holes as presented, but what is even more interesting is that I've seen a way to transform my life, into one I would not have dreamt of only a year ago, and I think is is part of the same thought patterns.
Since this realisation my life has changed, beyond believe, so trust me OPEN YOUR EYES, look at reality, the same goes for the cable con, the burn in con, and all the other Hi Fi cons that are out there, this life is full of cons, but it is also full of opportunities, I prefer the latter.
Hi Mick, sorry about your loss, yeah its heartbreaking and you feel that the pain will never go away, i only knew those guys for a few weeks, but i still feel for their familys.Ididnt have my Blazer in the States, but i did hire an International Scout 4x4 or as they call them, compact S.U.Vs. Yes i do agree that most of this country is privately owned, but i,ve had no problems this far. Iwould love to drive all over the U.S.A. guess it would take a lifetime, still i can dream.ah well.............Dave...............Hello John.No mate, life is not full of cons, whats happened to your life to make such a statement, live your life to the full, enjoy every day,do what you like, when you like, how you like.there are some in this world who cant, treasure what you have......Take Care mate......Dave
Hello John.nice to hear from you again, you were talking about opportunities before but never elaborated on what they were, whatever they are, i hope they are a resounding success.Remember the last time we spoke i was considering get rid of my ageing CD/DAC combination,i,ve had lots of people in here to evaluate my system, and all bar one have said that its the speakers. When i was in Chester a few weeks ago i heard a pair of TDL Studio Refererance 100,and was blown away by the awsome sound of these ageing speakers,i,m thinking now, since my system is basically over 20 years old but with fairly modern speakers [B&W Nautilus 804 ] that the sound quality of the TDLs will make the difference, what do you think, should i take the chance and sell my B&W and buy these , i cant find a dealer who will let me have a home demo, even if i pay the full amount up front, maybe they cant get hold of a pair, who knows..........take care mate ...Dave.......P.S. Iread on this site that you sold your Tri-path amp, and that it was battery powered, how did that work then,i,ve never heard of a battery powered amp, please elaborate........Dave
So many questions, well the opportunities started as a passion for interior design. For an experiment I purchased the smallest, cheapest flat I could find. The idea being to make it so 'des res', before selling on. However since then, I have realised the rent possibility of these studio flats, and with a mortgage purchased another. All the numbers pan out, the rent pays the mortgage, everything in place - self financing and basically at very little cost to myself.
The TDL Studio reference 100's sound good so go with them, personally I don't know of them, I an surprised that no dealer will offer a home demo.
The Thipath is so efficient that from a small 12V battery it offers many hours of quality music, it remove all of the mains contentions and is so totally quiet, but a large reason was that the case 180X140X40mm was just large enough for a 2AH battery, it is also low power at about 12W a channel, but a sound 'to die for'
Well after a quick search, it seems the company no longer exists, the reviews are vary mixed, Richer Sounds were/maybe are selling them. But if you've heard them and like them well go for it. It must be a lot less risky than my route, tracking down the Magnat speakers in the first place, never having heard of the company let alone the speakers, then parting with £580 then waiting a week, to be greeted with a massive pair of monoliths weighing so much that I cannot lift one of the ground. But a sound so full and sweet, I love it.
Incidentally the picture top right is said amp, home-built, the sweetest I've heard and all for less than £60. As I am always harping on this forum about, is that price alone is no guarantee.
Hi. John,i was looking at Richer Sounds web site and found that they are marketing TDL studio 100, for £150, they have not heard of the studio refererance 100 but think that they must be similar to the RTL4 of about 10 years ago,and that they may still have a pair of those in their wharehouse, and if so will give me a home demo,no problem. They said that the price of them was around £500-600 but will give me huge discount. I can only keep my fingers crossed. A property magnate eh,good for you mate, hope you end up being a gazzillionaire, i really do enjoy hearing success stories, and not all these whinging arseholes, with their "i cant do this or that "get out there and do it ,is my motto.I now understand about the amp,how many outputs did it have,i cant imagine that it would have many, and it only cost £60, why dont you market it and become the worlds first Tribilliogazzillionaire,.............take care mate.......Dave
Hi John, i was speaking to a friend, who like you is into electronics, and he,s come up with this idea of building my own transmission line speakers, from a speaker kit.Now then,do speaker kits actually exist or is this B/S.Is there a catalogue i can get hold of,are they ,if they exist, hard to build,i,ve asked this guy several questions all of which were pretty vague, which is why i think its B/S. Richer Sounds couldnt find those RTL4s but think they are in the wharehouse somewhere, ive looked in Loot but no luck there, there is a guy in Liverpool who,s got a pair of IMF transmission lines, who i believe were the makers of TDL,but as TDL are now Richer Sounds i,m back to square one, still it makes interesting detective work,i,m thinking that i may delve into TDL/IMFs history to find out why such a prestigious company end up in the hands of a discount hi-fi chain...........take care mate....Dave
