Hello John, as soon as i heard this Arcam CD7 i knew this was the one,and its only £450so with the money i get for my Futtermann DAC and the B & W 804s that price is well within range,as to your neighbours complaining, ever thought of asking them round for a musical evening[ drinks, snacks etc ] they tend not bother you after,i had that problem when we lived in a semi, but now we,re in this detached,no problems at all.You know you said about hearing no difference at all between a£4000 player and another at £500 well thats what as happened with me today. Ijust couldnt tell the difference between the Arcam and the Sugden, the Arcam lost the Sugden on all types of music, except classical, and the Krell [at nearly £5000 was totally out of the question ] well i didnt even wire it up,its the Arcam for me,i love everything about it. James at the Hi-Fi dealers said it will sound better once its run in,i started to laugh ,i said i had a mate who would differ on that subject,he didnt understand what i was on about, and i didnt elaborate, well its that time of year again when my boss decides to start Xmas shopping, and will drag me kicking and screaming to every shop in Manchester, its amazing , she will see a car parking space big enough to fit a mini in and expect me to park my Blazer, plus the other chore of washing and polishing it,removing all the camera equipment, and valetting inside to her exacting standards.........God help me.........Take Care John............Dave

Hi Dave, a confusing message or what, I understand the problem of people telling me I may be 'missing the point' but if I hear no difference then to me there is no difference. So whilst they try and convince me that I cannot hear the subtle differences, I stand on my beliefs and say 'no there are no differences', I think for the most part I am right. In the same vain I believe that 'cables' and 'connectors' make no audible difference. It goes against the grain, but I am not a Hi Fi salesman, I have no profit/commission to make, I do what I do because I want to and for no other reason. Remember I am into measurements and I have measured the cheapest nickle plated connectors , the supplied in the box connectors and found them to have 'zero distorsion' DC to 10MHz bandwidth, so what more do you expect of a cable, that is why they supply them, if the believed their equipment would sound better with a £100 phono lead would they not suggest it or provide it. Err common sense here.

Understand your stance re: invite the neighbours around for a musical evening, tried that, and even to visit their flat with a 'sound level meter' to ascertain what level of annoyance I was causing, but all to no avail. They were adamant that I was the cause of all their problems, end of story. Have since got new neighbours, much better as they at least phone rather than 'bang on the floor' but think how good it would be not to have any at all.

Carry on...

If you go around quoting things I say, you will not be popular, trust me, the things I say on this site I do say in life and it causes me 'major grief', I don't understand the reasons, but it does happen.

As for 'run in and 'burn in' take a look at technology, there is nothing in a CD player to 'run in' or 'burn in' after all it is not a 'car engine' it is an electronic product, this myth must be the third biggest lie of the Hi Fi industry. Most equipment does not 'change' no cables 'change' at all, I read that some under sea telephone cables were tested after one hundred years, and all aspects measured the same as when they were laid, important point here 'cables do not change', burn in is a myth.

Note I started this thread on the basis of 'why did the 911 collapse occure' I also suggested the 'BBTT' bake bean tin test. put an empty baked bean tin on your gas stove, on full heat, and leave it for an hour. Notice it didn't melt, it didn't weaken, it didn't soften, so what brought down two of the most 'overengineered' strong buildings in the world, what destroyed them completely in twelve seconds, within an hour of being hit, when in that time you cannot even deform a cheap low grade steel baked bean can on gas flame that burns at a higher temperature than jet fuel. This is the clue, apart from the six second collapse of tower seven, added to the known demolition of towers 3,4,5 within the following week. If all that evidence does not say 'inside job' then what more could you want or expect, no terrorist individual or organisation could possibly do that, no one, apart from the government, the owner and the state could possibly pull off a heist like that, yet the media managed to convince 99% of the public that it was the work of a few 'extreamists'.

For God's sake get real, it takes months of planning, months of preparation and months of preparing demolish seven buildings in a week, if we can be convinced of that, then we can be convinced of anything.

That is the state of Hi Fi to-day, I knew when I started this thread, I had no idea that I would close the loop at some time, but to-day I did, this is the time.

All my life I have tried to find the truth and the earning opportunitys, after sixty years of trying to earn a living, I have finally stumbled on the perfect opportunity, but it has taken a long time.

When I say the perfect opportunity I mean a real opportunity, O.K. I can survive on this, no I am saying one million in the next five years, tax free, and thats only the start, it could easily double.

Not only that but anyone can do it, all it takes is confidence and bottle nothing else, it is not clever, does not require much capital and does not require a brain like Einstein, all it requires is faith and confidence, the two qualities that most don't have, the two qualities that can elevate one above and beyond the 'norm' the earning opportunity is however greater than I ever expected in life, and I think one of the reasons is that it looks only 'at the truth', and is based only on facts, and not at any media expectations nor at public opinions etc.

John...

PS recently left a mortgage adviser, having gone there to borrow £300,000, on leaving he said 'what is your TARGET in all this', and I said 'one million in five years' he shook my hand and said 'you will do that easily, no problem', well that gives me faith.

Hello John.as far as i can see the twin towers collapsed due to a ballistic problem, remember they were built around a central core and after the aircraft collided with them,it wasnt just the heat, which was estimated at over 1200 degrees[a lot higher than a gas oven can supply even if you left if on all day] plus the kinetic energy of said aircraft,i,m not sure of the formulation but i think its weight times velocity squared,so if the aircraft was doing say 600mph and it weighed say 150 tons with its cargo[people ] i,m surprised they didnt fall down upon initial impact, why do you think they aimed near the top and not the bottom, this has to be a contributing factor, they [the terrorists ] must have been aware of the structural limitations of the building, what they did was the most horrible of guerrilla warfare, where the innocent public have to pay for their goverments policies. Enough of this,i thought that this was a music site, politics, polocies, theories, where does it get you, you,ll never find out the absolute truth, its locked away, for ever, just like that Diana fiasaco, everyone knows what happened, they are just too scared to upset you know who,.......... Glad to hear you,ll be in the super-tax bracket, but why only one million, set your sights a lot, lot, higher. Hope you get the ammount you were asking for.John, others cant give you faith,no matter what they say or their intentions, faith comes from within, along with confidence.................Take care mate..........Dave

Thanks Dave, guess I just went into one last night, and your right this is not the place to air my political opinions, or even the property debate.

However I do appreciate the fact that you take the time to reply, and the fact that you take the time to think, so if you want to discuss the matter further then please e-mail me.

On the property front, also a subject not to be discussed here. The crucial part of this plan is that you not only DO NOT pay super tax, no you don't even pay 'INCOME TAX'. I'm not going to offer it on a plate, but it is a fascinating scheme, and seems to work.

Hello John, yes you are right in what you say about this site not being the best forum to debate your political and private theories, you never know who may be monitoring these debates.Well to-day is the day i pick up my new Arcam CD73,they [the shop ] let me use theirs till mine is delivered, and i got the call last night, these new speakers are bloody fabulous, the soundstage is amazing,i was listening to Tchaikovskis Violin Concerto No1 on my Revox and the quality of a 1963 recording was pure heaven,i,ve also decided to start using my turntable again,my partner Brenda has some records she hasnt heard for awhile, and so i,m going to re-install it,thing is ,i,m so out of touch with turntables that i,m not sure what cartridge to buy for it,as i,m sure that the old one wont work after all this time,in fact i,m not sure where it is,as i removed it when i disconnected it,any reccomendations John?,i was looking at the Rock last night and it still seems in good working order,i stored it in its original box with some christal packs photographers use to stop their gear from getting damp,so alls i need is a cartridge, look forward to hearing your suggestions..................Take care John..........Dave

Hi Dave, sorry it's been so long. Now just looking back at previous postings I notice that I never did reply. One reason is that I know nothing about vinyl, or cartridges, not much help there.

John...

Hi Dave, have just stumbled across this thread and noticed that I have not said anything for four months, then I notice that nor have you.

Many years ago I had a Decca London cartridge, excellent if it could track anything, then a Grado that was brilliant, now I just have a CD player, for the most part it is better than anything vinyl.

Interesting to trawl around this site and realise what has been said before, sometimes many months before, but good to catch up.

Hello John, great to hear from you again, four months eh,i remember the Decca London ,didnt they upgrade it with the London Gold??,so you just have C.D,do you still have that battery powered amp?i myself have been considering upgrading my Krells,to maybe Chords, but after the demo i had went wrong,[the shop couldnt get the power amps to switch on ] i decided not to bother, ive now set my sights on purely vynil based system, set up in the back bed-room.The system will be based around the following,Quad 44-405-Spendor floorstanding-Townsend Rock/SME series5 arm[cartridge to be decided upon] and a Revox B77 that is being restored, but i have a sneaking feeling that the boss has now got other ideas, now that i,ve cleared the room of all its junk, maybe it was a ploy on her part, you know how sneaky women are, will just have to wait and see what she decides.........Dave
Show/hide user stats

Hi Dave, shame so many decisions are not yours - but maybe that is the price of a happy life. The system you outline does sound seriously expensive but I like the B77 in the line up. Yes I still use the battery amp, one reason is that I have not heard better, yes I am playing CDs as I don't have a pre-amp for the deck, but CDs can sound beautiful, also sound tracks from DVD discs are stunning. Having watched 'The fifth element' tonight, a wonderful romantic story in which the opera scene was stunning musically, this film , apart from being fun to be involved with also gave me the best credit I have ever had.

How we got here from the first thread I'll never know, the whole 911 subject seems to leave most people unwilling to even talk, let alone discuss ideas.

John...

Hi John, the whole thing about 911 is just a real nightmare that most want to forget, but shouldnt,ok people will say that its in the past and should be forgotten, but i dont think it ever will be,we should remember those who died,it was a horrible day,and most people, whether they admit it or not know exactly what they were doing on that day,end of story. The proposed new system is going ahead, but Brenda,s decided that i shouldnt hog it and that she wants a tuner incorporated and the room redecorated,ah well. The B77 may not be a viable proposition as i,ve been told that the renovation will be more expensive than actually getting another one, somthing about the gearing and the calibration, i also found my old cartridge while cleaning that room out,Ortofon Quasar, still looks in good nick but i,ll have it checked out.Going to Bradys to-day to have the Rock checked out,and see if they have a Quad tuner[FM2 or 3 ] i,ve seen one on a site called Greens for £95 but that sounds a bit expensive to me,as the last one i got from Bradys was only £40,i,m also looking on e-bay for a recorder,DAT or Reel to Reel, would preferr Reel, but DAT would suffice,so you,ve been watching The Fifth Element eh you old romantic, but i do agree that part in it with the opera singer was great..........Take care John.........Dave

It happenned - It wasn't a conspiracy on the government's side - but on the terrorist's side!
Show/hide user stats

Michael, in response to:

It happened - It wasn't a conspiracy on the government's side - but on the terrorist's side!

So what research have you done, do you know any of the facts, do you appreciate the difficulty of demolishing three buildings at 'free fall' speed in one day. I do have a 'feel' for mechanical things and having seen video of the events I can say pretty certainly that this was a controlled demolition.

Now in order to do a 'controlled demolision' one needs weeks of preparation, months of planning, access to the buildings etc. do a couple of terrorists have that?

Look at history no high rise building has ever been destroyed by fire or a plane hit.

Never have two plane hits completely destroyed three buildings in one day.

Please tell me. HOW COULD IT HAPPEN ?

Edited: 25/04/08 16:28
Show/hide user stats

Please anyone, I am not discussing who may have been behind this but more HOW COULD IT HAPPEN, tell me how could anyone demolish three of the worlds most 'over engineered buildings' in one day?

I have studied these events very closely over many months and conclude what i do, I am not discussing conspiracy, nor any reasons only the physics, only the possibilities, only the 'HOW COULD IT HAPPEN'

If anyone could explain that then I will be eternally grateful, if anyone can explain how a couple of terrorists can demolish three of the worlds strongest buildings in a matter of hours then I would love to hear it, not only demolish them but to do it neatly in their own footprint, at free-fall speed, and then remove all the scrap material within a week. Sorry are these terrorists from another planet, do they have ways and means that we on earth do not have?

Show/hide user stats

Have just noticed a reply I made last month, all I asked was one simple question 'HOW COULD IT HAPPEN' If anyone out there can answer that question then I will doubt my understanding.

That is my problem, not who did it, or why, but simply how.

Who could gain access for the weeks of setting explosives etc. Who could even get access to the basement areas. There is no way that three buildings were completely demolished by two aircraft hits so plaese tell me how did it happen?

Note three buildings completely demolished in one day. Yes THREE, think on.

John,

I remember watching the news on September 11Th and thinking oh my God this is the beginning of the end, it may yet be.

It's true the buildings seemed to collapse in a very controlled way almost identical in manor to a professionally controlled demolition.

I do not know if it was just an act of extremely well planned and executed terrorism, or something even more sinister but if the American government had any part in it , they must be the most evil twisted group of people to have ever walked this earth.

History will eventually reveal the truth, maybe!

Show/hide user stats

Yes and history will,, read the book 'rogue state'. Read what has really happened in this world, it is not a pretty picture, world events are not quite as nice as we would like to imagine, the American government is not as as nice as we would like to imagine.

To David Mellor, and back in the sober light of day. I don't know where you are physically in the country, but if you were to get to North London I would be delighted to sort out the B77, tape recorders always were a fascination to me, having built one from scratch when I was only sixteen. OK it was a valve job based on a Mullard design, but I do understand the techniques and the calibration procedures, and have little else to do in life.

I reckon you could find a Quad tuner on e-bay for a few quid.

Take care... John...

Did anyone see the program on BBC2 last Sunday around 9:00 pm, it did appear to be a slight 'turning point' in public opinion.

I feel pretty sure that in the next few years the full truth will become apparent, maybe equally some truths about 'interconnects' will also become apparent.

At least last Sundays program did show some anomalies of the events. Here's one I would like to point out, simply:-

How were the news teams in place ready to photograph the event if it was a surprise attack?

How come the pictures I saw on TV were in 'real time' and included that 'first hit'?

Food for thought - John...

Show/hide user stats

I didnt see the program, but my understanding is that the first hit was "filmed" by a TV crew who were making a documentary about the NY fire service amd just pointed a camera up in the air when they heard the jet flying low and that this was the only film in existence of the first hit,  so I dont understand how the news teamswere "ready in place" for the first hit.

There have been dozens of questions raised about the findings of the events as contained  in the official  report and people need to research and judge for themselves.

Regards
