I'm a bit baffled as to how you get an ipod wired up to work in a car. Currently i've just got a basic cd player, so the idea of playing all my songs on my ipod would be great (and make my long journeys to work more bearable!). Anyone know how i go about doing this? cheers...

It is possible to get a device that transmits the output from the headphone jack over FM radio. Then all you need to do it tune your car radio into the required frequency, and you can hear your iPod through the main speakers. Clever little idea really. The same thing also works with any radio, be it in your kitchen, bathroom etc etc.

They fabulous. And completely illegal.
Why is it illegal? It's only a low power signal, similar to that in a 'walkie-talky', they're not illegal?
The itrip - which is the name of at least one of the devices that does what you are describing (looks like a plain white tube of about smartie tube proportions) that is the width of the iPod and plugs into the top of headphone socket - is definitely illegal for sale and use in the UK.
It's powerful enough that driving down the motorway you can hear what people are playing in other cars on your radio!
Crikey - yes, that's the one i'm describing. I can't remember where i'd seen it advertised now... I'm suprised a transmitter that small can be illegal 'tho. It's teeny!
It is indeed teeny.
You used to be able to buy them from certain UK shops. But they clamped down on it I think.
I think to an extent it just falls foul of general UK legislation on licencing for transmitters. They're relatively powerful over a short range.
Hmm... that's a shame. Does anyone know of any other device that does this sort of thing?

If you're looking for alternatives regarding in-car entertainment, check this new gadget out:
http://www.sony-europe.com/PageView.do?site=odw_en_EU&page=PressReleaseDetail§ion=en_EU_Press&pressrelease=1109586898177
It's an av centre that'll play dvds, cds and mp3's!! Not sure of the price yet, but i'm sure it won't be cheap...
yep. Itrip. very useful and illegal. Its all down to the wireless act 1960(something). The loverly government doesnt want people able to transmit into any frequncy willy nilly!
If your cd player has a AUX in around the back, then you could go from your stereo headphone out to twin (left+right) phono.
My advice would be to just buy an itrip anyway(you can get them on ebay or at www.ipodx.co.uk). There by far the most convienient way of linking up to the car stereo and also for taking round to mates houses and dazzling them all with your brilliant taste in music at barbeques and the like.
Ok they are illegal but I'm pretty sure a prison sentence wouldn't be on the cards in the unlikley event that you were caught with one! But you didn't hear it from me
... but just imagine if your next door neighbour was a big Rick Astley fan and kept broadcating "When I fall in love" into your BBQ - surely you would be saying 'grounds for a prison sentence' then ...?
LOL, but don't slag him off he was one of the defining artist of his time, indeed he truly did have a 'musique' that was 'unique'!
Seriously though you'd just have to change the radio frequency + the signal only works over about 10 metres.
What would truly be grounds for prison and probably the reinstatement of capital punishment, would be relentless broadcasting of the crazy frog...hang on, thats already happening on my T.V. which is even worse cos I have to put up with visual as well as audio!

 You'll love this Euler! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/4576119.stm
The world is truly a crazy place ;)

That is, quite literally, unbelievable. Especailly this bit of the article:
"The only real issue is whether the record label can press enough copies to keep up with the huge demand that we're seeing right now."
Who is buying this record?
 Apparently everyone!
 Including you?
No way! Actually, my housemate sent me a great forward yesterday which was the little guy hanging. I have to confess to singing along (involuntarily) when the ad comes on though. It's an ugly thing (not helped by my overwhelming tone deafness), but I can't control it!
Will people leave the frog alone?? He's harmless really, and if you find him **that** offensive, you can get the Axel F remix without the vocals, which is a pretty good track by any measure!
The frog is that offensive I'm afriad old chap, I read recently that the creator of him literally 'hates' himself for divising it. And the Axel F track is equally bad, you'd think supplementing it with the frog would kinda cancel out the rubbishness but you'd be wrong. It actully makes it more annoying and it probably out does the mr blobby song!
