Hi Rik H,before my head gets knocked off,no mate i dont believe in mains conditioners,i,m a firm believer that the mains conditioning in my amps serves its purpose without the use of "snake oil" remedies, and dont use them, thats not to say i am not in favour of them, its just they are not for me,and yes to your question,i do or will go to the ends of the earth to find the best possible source for my music................Take Care mate..........Dave

Hi Dave,

Been listening to Le Parc. I love Yellowstone park because it relaxes me and reminds me of you.  But depending on my mood, I like them all.

Was looking through Planet Rocks's Ultimate Driving Songs.  These are just some of the songs  I am sure you've mentioned and their placing....ithe top 40 I am sure holds a lot more.

2 Born To Be Wild Steppenwolf

3 Highway Star Deep Purple

6 Freebird Lynrd Skynrd

9 Speed king Deep Purple

I am glad that the picture was successful...I meant to ask earlier.  They've obviously got you sussed.  I'll look forward to your headless post in the morning.

Have a great evening.

Hi Rik H,

Not so many in the collection but rather remembered....I love to listen to Planet Roak especially their sunday evening show - featturing AC/DC this month.  Usually worth a listen if nly to hear the stories from their own perspective.

Show/hide user stats

I believe AC/DC have a new album out soon

'Flick Of The Switch' was the first album I ever bought actually!

Show/hide user stats

Yes, I think this is the run up to its release

Planet Rock quote " celebrating the return of rock's loudest band with a month's worth of shows building up to the release of this year's most exciting album, Black Ice."

Could be our chance to hear a few tracks before buying.

Hi all ,

Went to see Alan Holdsworth on Sunday     http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJmvp5xdO2A&feature=related

I loved it, Jazz fusion at it's best , the star of the show for me was Chad Wackerman the drummer , he certainly lives up to his name such power, speed and finesse.

Looking forward now to seeing Chris Standring at Churchill's Southend on Oct 12Th now http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=x5GxxwDW4fU&feature=related   please ignore the naff video and listen to that sweet guitar !

David , or can I call you mush ?

Good luck with the Sugdens , I tried earlier versions of the LA4pre amp and SPA4 stereo power at home on loan for a couple of weeks as an alternative to my Electrocompaniet amps , although the Sugden are very good especially with simple good quality recordings they seemed to fall apart when faced with anything over complex or of a lesser recording quality.

I know I bang on about Electrocompaniet amps but I believe perhaps a Ec 4.8 preamp with AW180 class A mono blocks would definitely suit your TDL'S or Maggie's better , they will drive anything with power and grace and supply a huge 3 dimensional sound stage of seemingly limitless size .

See  AW180 class A monoblock   and EC 4.8 balanced pre-amp  definitely worth an audition.

All the best Electro.

Hi Mush

Shouting so you'll hear me!  Rather you than  me I hate Railway Museums regardless of that I hope the shoot goes well.

Without one of the legs and an arm it's harder to suffer from "foot in mouth disease" so you'll probably be a lot slower getting into that position next time...

I'll catch up on the Tangerine Dream...I've had some excruciatig earache with everyone providing their own entertainment on my CD player ( worst offender Sleeper's  "The It Girl" )..it'll be a relief to return to normal.

Going Sloe searching...In need of more. May well have difficulty bad year for them and very late now!...If I''m  lucky, I may well get some photo's but it's a dull and dismal day so we'll see.

The Streets: Everything is Borrowed. Excellent poetic lyrics and love the spoken words relieved by gentle backng vocals..

The video is great and probably sadly relevant to the "credit crunch" we're experiencing.

Hello All,well York was a complete waste of time and diesel, firstly the demo was a sham, the shop didnt sell Sugden,so how come i booked a demo i asked, and was told the assistant made a mistake,he thought my name was Mr Sugden, and i wanted a demo of Arcam Diva range,i just told them to f.....off and left, then we went to the NRM,and the security guy on the door said, you can,t photo here, and dogs aint allowed,to which Jane said"what are you doing there then you f....ing prick"so we left York, but on the way back called into Leeds, saw this camera shop, bought an Olympus E3 with a 140-600 mm lense for 1K,i was speaking to the assistant about our disastrous visit to York, and about hi-fi and he informed me there was a shop round the corner that sold stereo gear, but he wasnt sure what so i thought nothing ventured etc, went to the shop and jeeze the guy had Krell coming out of his ears, nearly all their range, after talking to him he thought i,d be better off with the Evolution 202 pre amp with its power supply, and that if i wanted to upgrade my 100M,s i should be looking at a price of around 20-30K not the 6-8 i had in mind, seems these amps are a lot better than i thought, and if i do decide to sell,he wants first crack[as he put it]So i bought the Krell Evolution 202 so all in all not a bad day.bought some CD,s Rush,AC/DC,Colosseum,treated the two ladies to late lunch, the most tasty takeaway i,ve ever had,MrBenji had his favorite, sausages, and we came home, been in touch with Bernie who,s told me he,ll be round later to wire it up for me.Janes also asked if she can stay again tonight, she doesnt need to ask,but i think there,s somthing going on,and intend finding out what, will be back later...........Take Care All.........Mush

Hi Dave,

My day was a washout literally.....more rain than sun..all high winds and pelted by bits of trees and acorns and not a sloe in sight  On the lighter side, saw a rainbow while in the car.   The dog which accompanied us was great fun until we got back to the car.  I could see a flat seed ( perhaps a fern spore) stuck on the centre of his eye and it wouldn't move as he blinked.  Spent an absolute age staring into his eye and hoping that it would......eventually got him calm enough to keep closing it until it stuck to the lower lid.....honest I do love animals but swear I'm jinxed!

Don't worry haven't forgotten.

Hi Electro,

Sorry I missed your post earlier..

I have enjoyed both especially the Chris Standring.  I think my ears are getting more used to listening to instrumentals..or else I've lost the concenration to listen to lyrics and make semse of them.  Let me know how it goes.

Hi Mush ~ your posts amuse me
You should have spent the day in York ~ its a lovely place (Forgetting the bad 'hifi' dealers for the moment!)

As for upgrading your amp, thats EXACTLY why I asked if you used conditioners or decent mains cables or whatever as to get a 'true' upgrade you really would need to spend an astronomical amount of money! (In my honest opinion). Id personally try to 'squeeze as much juice' as possible out of what you already have myself (shrugs)
Show/hide user stats
Hello All,these upgraded pre amps are a revelation, everything is coming to life,i,m hearing things i,ve never heard before, the detail, and being able to place all the instruments being played, the soundstage is unbelievable, the music has more depth, more precise, but i still dont think that mains conditioning will do anything more to this already upgraded system, and besides this new pre has its own power supply,so in effect i suppose the mains conditioning is there within its own design, but i wouldnt go out of my way to have mains conditioning,in fact i wouldnt know where to start, but i do intend on upgrading all the interconnects ASAP for a more uniform make/construction,what i dont know as yet,but will keep you all informed when i do...............Take Care................Mush

What interconnects and mains cables do you have Mush?
