Hello all,no idea who makes the mains cables, they were already attached to the equipment i use,but i do use a 24 gang block that was made for me by an electronics engineer in Darley Dale who eventualy ripped me off for several hundred pounds and to whom i,ll be paying a visit in the not too distant future,as to the interconnects......well 4 are by Chord on the Revox B77,the ones on CD are also by Chord, the rest of them are Ixos which i bought recently.the digital cables are by Supra, why do you ask???are you going down the same road as Mr Fisher, going on about different cables making everything sound better, hope not,as i dont believe they do improve the sound one bit,its the equipment not the cables or mains conditioners..........but thats my view........Take Care Mate......Mush
Cant believe anyone in thier right mind would attempt to rip you off, given your stature, with a nick name like B,U,C one thinks they need thier heads seen to ? no doubt they wont be in when you call around ! and who would blame them ??? LOL take care mate ...speak soon. ....Carl.
24 Gang Block?? Crikey ~ thats a LOT of plugs! Ripped you off how?
I completely agree that electronics are obviously the ones that MAKE and CREATE the sound. I kinda disagree that cables DONT let more through as ive expereinced it myself but thats what 'hifi's all about init
Well, at least you tried the cable route before dismissing it. This approach isn't for everyone. If they were expensive, why not sell the cables you've got and downgrade? There are some very good cheap ones that might allow you to buy a beer/CD/dinner or two with the difference.
These are terrific; I use a DIN terminated set on my Quad FM3; NVA Soundcord. Under £10 for a 0.7 metre set.
Hello All,been up till the early hours listening to my hi-fi all over again, all this time and trouble looking for what i already had,and i didnt even know it,Rik,to your question of how did he rip me off, well,i trusted him with several hundred vynil albums when i was in the stage of giving up on T/T as a music source, and swapped my Townsend Rock for his half track B77 high speed plus some cash,i also gave him the albums which he promised to transfer onto reel tape for me,but he didnt,he sold most of them to record collectors and some on E,all my Canned Heat,Iron Butterfly,Deep Purple,Groundhogs,Ten Wheel Drive,Vanilla Fudge, all in all he sold about 3-400,but i was never told, and as you can imagine i,m rather pissed off,but at the time i had a broken ankle and ripping his f.....ing head off wasnt at that time an option, but it is now.Hi Christopher, thanks for the advice mate, but i,m quite happy with the cables i have, and on my Quad tuner the cable came with it and works just fine, though i did have problems with my aerial for a time, but my mate Bernie sorted that out with some gizmo he bought from Maplins for,i think £5,anyway it sorted the problem out, wouldnt have thought of you as a Shostakovitch lover,on Bills Rec i bought from Play.com[thanks again Tamara]the complete works by this composer, and it opened my ears to classical music[thanks again Bill].Well off to York again today, seems the photo,s are for the museum itself, and i want to take more of the Minster, the ones i took yesterday were not very good,so going to take 4 cams one with a "pancake"lens [very short focal length]and two pods including a quad and maybe some portalights, and my partner is driving,as till i get my license back,i,m unable to.............Take Care All......Dave[mush for short]
Hello Carl, how are you keeping then mate, hope everythings fine and dandy for the No 1 sex god from planet Wales, been racking my brains[ok ok i hear you all]for a top 40 for Planet R.so here goes 1 Deep Purple-Child in time,2 Steppenwolf-Magic Carpet Ride,3 Iron Butterfly-Easy Rider,4 Chickenshack-The things you put me through,5 Ten Years After-Detroit Diesel.6 Colosseum-Thief in the Night,7 Fairport Convention-Walk awhile,8 Nazareth-Broken Down Angel,9 Groundhogs-Cherry Red,10 Rush-Working Man,i,ll give you another ten later on today,as i,ve got to get ready now for our jaunt to York............Take Care All............Dave[mush-B.UC. for short]
Dave, Well you should get some good light by the looks of things.
Yes, I like Shostakovich a lot. Was the Shostakovich set you bought the Barshai version? It's extremely good and very cheap. Shostakovich Symphonies. My version was bought at Superdrug! The holding company of Superdrug actually owned the record company 'Brilliant Classics' at the time so they suddenly started stocking all sorts of classical box sets for a while. Quite odd.
You can vote for Shostakvich if you use the link in previous post...I'd hate to think he would lose out!....The other composers work may not be as good but it is more modern sounding and therefore likely to more appealing to the average listeners ears.
He wins for me on the basis of his history yet alone the music...

Now whilst I can still get on this site, I would like to run a slightly wacky theory past you all, and that is 'the appreciation of accsesories' is similar to the appreciation of 'love', if we were to do a poll of who appreciates the subtle differences in cables etc. and correlate then to their personal lives then I think a pattern would emerge, any discussion welcome... John...
Excuse me one second John.... I have to say first.....a warm welcome back to Tamara...great to see you on the Forum again...you were greatly missed by everyone!! (I'm only just back myself and now catching up...has everybody gone Shostakovich mad while I've been away? )

So when you have a '4' at the end of your name, your ALLOWED to talk about cables?
Thanks Bill I was only away for two days and between you and me I am not officially back, just using a mail address that was loaned to me during the 'hacking' period. Personally I rather enjoy Mozart but I think that is more from my first classical experience, however I do love Bach and Led Zeppelin and a particular favorite for assessing any system, Patricia Barber, 'Verse' a beautiful recording, hardly classical but more modern jazz sounding, you may enjoy it...
