Hi Tamara, The Corrs always seem to produce outstanding work. Being sisters their vocals are naturally harmonious. Andrea seems to have the sweetest voice of the 3......a natural lead.

Hi Tamara, Carl will be pleased to hear some of that supplied inside information on Kosheen The name is curious.....wonder where that originated ?

Don't know if anyone else is noticing this...but the refresh time of AVR is ponderously slow tonight reaching get-up-and-make-a-cup-of-tea levels of delay to log a reply My daughter is anxious to borrow the laptop so I will bid you adieu for the moment... Best regards...........................................Bill.

Hi Bill, Kosheen is from two words. The name of the band is a combination of the Japanese words for "old" (古, ko) and "new" (新, shin). Darrren Decoder, founder member of the band says "His salvation came in the form of a young Geoff Barrow, future founder of Portishead. “When I met Geoff, he introduced me more to the electronic side of music." Quite an interesting beginning and overall sound. Reading their history reminds me of the Tindersticks refusal to compromise their music.

Hi Bill, Everything has been slow tonight online. Been to friends shop measuring up for fitments etc... Gave me a chance to listen to Marvin Gaye CD. What's Going On. I'll review it better later but this is very special. I doubt if I'll let this on lie on the shelf.

Okay it's late to be visiting but.... Seasick Steve : "Dog House Music" I am really lucky...Friendly Plumber's treat...I guess he's forgiven.

Hello All,got a sore finger at the moment, missed the nail with the hammer,ah well, rang that guy up in Leeds about upgrading my Krell 100M,sand he said it wouldnt be worth the trouble, that i wouldnt notice much difference, finally found an honest dealer. Was listening to the Eagles last night on the 77,Vynil,and CD still not sure which has the edge, but thinking about it,who really cares as long as it sounds good.Off out food shopping in about an hour [donkey dave,ee why does he call you that then,he-haw,he-haw,he-haw,llways calls me that]just thought along with insulin i,d inject a bit of humour.Bill £70 for vynil, sounds a bit much, why not get it on CD/DVD from Play.com,think its 20 odd quid,i bought the CD yesterday £9.61 sounds very good, though i do have all of the tracks on various formats, still ,being a vynil afficianado,i guess that you want to keep in the groove so to speak, speaking of grooves, does anyone know of a good record cleaner, somthing you can just hold over the record, been told to use surgical spirit by a prick at a certain hi-fi chain, who will not have me going through their doors anymore, and will be less richer than before.Who or what is Seasick Steve???sounds bloody disgusting.I can feel eyes boring into me,think its time to go.......jeeze i,ve got two bosses running my life now.......stereophonic nagging........mmmmm......Take Care All.......Donkey Deaf Slave Mush

Record cleaner. Is that what you wanted David? It comes from this site; link under the 'accessories' heading (not easy to link to - sorry). You to somewhere like Waitrose or John Lewis's and buy one of their yellow microfibre window cleaning cloths for about £3. They're also pretty good. The suggestion of Isopropyl alcohol will actually work but as always, it's just a case of how far you want to take it. I use the microfibre cloth myself.

HI Carl, Seasick Steven is great, it is like hearing buskers. Then you'd usually walk on after a couple of songs so. After an hour, it began to pall and become samey. It isn't varied enough to keep the ears fresh and attentive. No wonder your daughter thought it was lacking. His only hope is if he can hold the audience with stories and his lunatic antics..which are fun but perhaps wearing. Kosheen are from Bristol but their lead singer is welsh. She lived for a while in the Brecons in a tepee. Bill likes overkill which is on their My Space site http://www.myspace.com/kosheen1 This is from their appearance on Graham Norton Show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPUgbdLhEZ0 She has very bright alive eyes.

Hi All, Tamara, Kosheen, not heard a lot about them or lead singer but will give a few spins thanks. Got Elbow CD, (Seldom seen kid ), first track - Starlings, or should i say STARTLING ??? as that what this track is, it starts quite pleasant then all of a sudden blasts out some sort of noise that totally wrecks the ambiance of the rest of the track ? have they put this in just to annoy kids parents ? or just to damage your speakers ?? anyway the rest of thier music is growing on me, so beware of the first track all ???? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=I-6iGMomKiI

Hi Dave, I will get this posted to you but I keep losing it... I like "Road To Eden"2CD But I listen to the Eagles "Hotel California" on a loop when Friendly Plumber comes round...it's his favourite though then I also get to listen to the Ting Tings and The Zutons..both OK for a quick burst. Seasick Steve "Dog House Music" is good and one of FP's favourites. He is a strange character, busking quality, peculiar instruments, and stories to break show....I like his style but it is probably not quality but quirky. This clip is him with a three string guitar..Dog House Blues.you might like it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNoPNC3ebYQ&feature=related

Hi Carl, The Elbow CD was in at the library so it is in my possession but I've not listened yet. I hardly dare mention it on here....i wasn't overly impressed that the won the Mercury Prize over Portico Quartet.... but I felt I had to listen in quieter moment when the blood had stopped boiling! Now seems appropriate. Thanks for the warning. I'll try the "SMILE and have a nice day". Stressed with trying to order goods for friends refit...tight time schedule and few stockists......doing this is keeping me sane

Hi stephen nicholas 2 Iona are a gentle sound and wide range of musical styles. Liked these all very different but all beautiful Treasure: very celtic taste and probably the best for me Your The One : More of a gentle love song Million Stars: violin strings very soothing I have trouble with them when they are rasping!...

Hello All.Well thank god the shopping is over, thought we were buying the whole store at one point, and the quantity of booze, was just staggering to say the least, but now i,ve found out that those two have got a party in mind,a Women only party, and suddenly i,m to make myself scarce on friday, tell you i,m getting pissed off with the attitude of these two,all men are bastards, this is one "bastard" who may kick the pair of them out, they seem to forget that this is my property, and everything in it,including the buisness, and all the cars, and if its not to their liking they can both go and f.......off,make yourself scarce, its they who should make themselves scarce, especially now that they have royally pissed me off.............Dave

Hi Dave, It's amazing how the behaviour of one affects the overall perception of the lot. I am sure in their minds you're the exception to the pack....and they probably assume that you know it. I am sure they appreciate you. Have a strong coffee, put your feet up and listen to something relaxing..... From a personal point of view, all people can be B****ds but the vast majority aren't.... and all of us forget sometimes to appreciate those around us....with that love you lots Mush.

Hi Tamara, Many thanks for the Kosheen translation (Carl will be pleased to hear of the national connection).....(and on this basis Seasick Steve could have gone for something more dynamic like "Katana Steve" ) Marvin is a good fall back position for late night listening RE DG LIve thanks Tamara.....Specific vinyl can be extraordinarily difficult to acquire at reasonable prices. I've been trawling the Net for Lizz Wright and Pat Barber (the latter I thought I would find easily) but prices apart, invariably sold out... Best regards........................................Bill.

They Might Be Giants was another band I was searching for material on again fruitlessly.... I'm rapidly losing the will to live....
|
 |
Hi Bill, I rely heavilly on our local library. Rang today, they have Liz Wright's CD's in. Gives me the chance to vet them before buying. The three names you've mentioned don't turn up in the bargain bins..I'll have a look tomorrow..but your chances of vinyl are limited.
