Hi Tamara,

I for one would take it as a bit of fun, and i know you are not a malicious person, and its only a perception anyway ? you may be spot on with what others think, or way off ? I'm sure all would agree with me, aye?

Show/hide user stats

Quite right Carl, this is only fun, but many seem to think that to hear a bad perception is 'the end of the world'. In reality it is more like a Tarot card reading, and others perceptions are only what THEY perceive from massages sent. So please Tamara, don't be coy, let us all know what you perceive. This all reminds me of the Moody Blues album 'On The Threshold of a Dream'.

OK having thought about Tamara for at least five minutes, I have now formed a new perception. Promise not to be offended by this as it is only gathered from messages you have put up and not from any outside knowledge of you, or any other input.

I see you as a 'cosy sort', one always out to sympathise with the injured party, one who would never  entertain gaining out of a situation. Honest as the day is long, not exactly a great achiever but content in the knowledge that you did the best for everyone around you. Probably a lifestyle based on 'hippy' values, probably enjoy a little puff and the odd josstick. Far more into music and games than the technicallities of Hi Fi. a rather timid person who would do almost anything to avoid confrontation.

Please tell me just how wrong I am. John...

Hi Mr Fisher,

I am retiscent when using words because of their power to harm others.....whether in business, with friends or strangers they can be deadly weapons.

Hi Carl

I hope this doesn't cause you ny embarrassment.

Instanty likeable, strong, dependable, The kind of character that you feel you've known for years, Like a Teddy Bear, You'd love him as a constant companion. He's so much fun and comforting.. You sense he's deservedly loved by his friends and family and as a result that he's probably wearing a little threadbare.....You're sure that inside is a heart that was perhaps a little hard but has been weathered by life's storms to reveal a diamond..not yet perfectly honed but perceivable.....presuming he were the musical kind ....well he'd play romantic music but strictly for his special lady only.....

Hi Tamara,

Shucks, youve got me lost for words now but thanks for the compliments you- smoothie Although i must admit, i tend to bounce of other peoples caracters,  like your self ?.

Come on Carl, give Tamara a 9+ for that, it seems that even a few words give away our character 'like an open book'. The word is more powerful than the sword...

Carl, just how does this happen, I write a reply to Tamara and before I even post it you have replied, now that must have happened within a few minutes. Maybe there is a divine conscience after all...

Hi Carl,

I'll let you know where to sent the money......I jest...or guessed?

My God Tamara you've done it again, posted something that I'll never understand, maybe a different dimension, maybe there are different realities to life, maybe that is why I fail to see the cable differences, I am simply on a different planet.

If you wish to reply to my perception please feel free, I will not be embarrassed or even depressed but more than anything INTERESTED.

Ar we entering the sixth dimension here.

Hi All,

Good answer Tamara, that is reply i would have given ? John, a case of reading between the lines ???

Show/hide user stats

Hi Carl,

I know you too well to think anything of it...don't know about others.....

I was pleased the Gerald didn't finish hs post with the retort my friend gives me!...that's why he's a gent!

Sorry Carl but if Tamara thinks that Gerald is a real gent then I definitely do come from a different planet, OK I may be a bit dumb about reading between the lines, I just don't have that sophistication, not in my remit. Maybe that is why I understand so little that is said on this thread!!!

For all those who like one liners,

"He who laughs last laughs longest"

"Dont drink and drive because you will spill it"

"People who live in glass houses should't throw stones"

"He who dares wins"

"Nil iligit carburundum" (Dont let the bastards grind you down)

Hi all, just a thought, but look back in history, and check out where this thread actually started. It was created by electrohead, but why did he create it, well it was the result of something said on a previous thread, check out that thread and find the originator, then maybe you will understand why I find this thread so interesting.

Whilst many may find history boring and out of date, the one answer it has, is the reason for now. Now would not happen were it not for then, CD and DVD would not have happened were it not for the standards used in professional recording and digital storage. Unfortunately I find no history about cables, no previous, no research and no quantifiable results, it all appears to just be marketing bull***t with no science, no history and no background.

Again I will restate the obvious, if cables could be so different would not the phone companies have researched this 'up to the hilt' in the days of analogue long distance connections, would the power companies not have looked at ways to get power over a hundred miles if it could be done better. Our power distribution system is based on the theories of Mr Tesla, now if anyone were interested in cables then I think he would be. Equally so the phone companies who put audio signals down many miles of cable. often on telegraph poles, often by a couple of wires spaced about 6 inches apart.

Now what is the importance of that spacing, well it creates a characteristic impedance of 600 Ohms, one of the deco facto standards of the audio industry. Again If you want to find reasons then simply look back at history.

Not that long ago an audio op-amp was developed that met that magical criteria, the NE5532, it could drive into 600 Ohms, did no one realise that in studio situations no one ever had to drive into 600 Ohms, nevertheless it was a very successful design and is still on sale.

What I am trying to say here is that many massive mis-perceptions are made, both in professional electronics and in consumer understanding, cables seem to be 'top of the list'.

Hi Gerald,

thought your one liners were great!....reminded me of ...never mind

This is a treat for the intermissioin as it were...

It's Tommy Cooper    "So I went down my local ice-cream shop, and said I want to buy an ice-cream'. He said Hundreds & thousands?' I said 'We'll start with one.' He said 'Knickerbocker glory?' I said 'I do get a certain amount of freedom in these trousers, yes.'

I have to take his word for it.
