Rik, different, not necessarily better.  Gives you some more options though.

Hi Rik,

The Titan can be used on it's own with fantastic results you do not need the Nova you can use the Multi link instead, see   picture , sorry this is the only picture I could find , Isotek don't say much about the multi link because they would rather sell you a Nova.

If you scroll down the picture shows the multi link connected to the Titan, this is the European version with schuko plugs instead of UK 3 pin sockets, but the rest is the same.

Isotek and Isol 8 used to be the same company, they split up after a disagreement about the company's direction and Isol 8 now concentrate on large isolation transformers for power amps and mains regeneration units for source equipment whereas Isotek use mains filtering exclusively.

All the best Electro.

Clearly youve gone down the Isotek route. Have you TRIED any of the Isol products for comparison?

Riki/Electro,

These guys are interesting; AEL Link.

It's a very well established British company who make transformer based filtration unitsfor a number of different purposes.  They sell direct and are the source of many of the more expensive, branded transformer based solutions.  They're a good idea for source components and not that expensive.  I actually heard an early Isotek transformer based 'Power Cube' on a Musical Fidelity Nu Vista many years ago - not successful.  The new generation of Isotek devices are much better for the purpose. Transformers would definitely be a bad idea for a big Musical Fidelity rig.

Isol-8 are more filtration than transformer based these days, like Isotek.

Chris,

Thanks for the update on Isol 8, it seems they are now selling some products that are very similar to Isotek filtration models.

I agree Isolation transformers would be a bad idea for large power amps.

Isotek used to make voltage stabilizers called Centuri and Aquari I think , mainly aimed at eastern Europe they provided a constant 230 volts but not using a variac , it was a new technology but they seem to have disappeared now, but Isol 8 seem to be making a product called Stasis which looks like a similar design, I suspect there may be legal issues between the two companies.

see Isol 8

Rik,

I have not tried the recent Isol 8 products but it seems they are both similar in design.

Chris? What conditioning systems do you use at home?

Hi everyone,

I bought a LC audio mains filter kit and its wired into my mains lead, its cheap too . It seems to be now a cleaner sound with a more detail and a more open soundstage. Its on the soundlabs website in Australia.

Just thought I add my 20c worth.

Have a good day everyone.

Steve.

Rik, I've got a couple.  I've got a microprocessor controlled transformer that I sometimes use to cure over voltage and DC (we get 248 volts here) and Russ Andrews Ultra Purifier and Mini Purifier.  I've also got a number of other Isotek devices next to noisy components with switch mode power supplies.

If I'd bought again from scratch, I would have gone the Isotek/Isol-8 route.

I got better clarity and much better sibilants.  Haven't had any dynamics problems.

Hi all,

I have a lot of respect for John although he probably thinks of me as an electrically illiterate fool but I don't mind, it is a shame he has to go too far and get banned,  it was because of him that I first contributed to this site, spurred on by his outspoken comments.

John has certainly contributed some good points to the forum in the past, but I suspect his 'personality' is probably putting off more people than it attracts, so I've asked him to desist for a while (by that I mean I've barred him). At least this way people can discuss their own findings about cables without having to constantly justify their belief in them.

Anyone else is of course is free to argue the worth of cables here as much as they like but the usual rules apply - don't get personal, don't be insulting and don't be rude. Easy, huh?

Hi Dave,

Cant we put members terms and conditions on the home page, or at least a larger link,?

Sorry to hear John is taking a break, but understand the position you where faced with, is there a time limit on Johns break ??

Hi Dave,

I agree with Carl  having these conditions more visually upfront might be helpful. I like your three rules or guidelines as they will help ensure people (hopefully) discuss issues without attacking the other person.

I must say even though John had strong oppinions I did learn a bit from him about cables and amps - all the best mate.

Cheers,

Steve

Hi folks

We've got a big legalistic tract of conditions here (no5, Member Conduct) but I'll put something more succinct on the forum homepage in a bit. It'll just be obvious, common sense stuff though.

The cable manufacturers and suppliers must be rolling around in their gold bullion laughing their socks off.

The music lovers must be sitting in their comfy chair listening to wonderful music having connected their carefully tested and chosen cables laughing their socks off at the thought that some people will never believe in the improvement they hear .

Well thanks Mike, we seem to concur on something, and electro I am not out to disappoint you, and Rik you really believe that cables are more important than electronics. OK I will not argue, now Dave you look so serious in your picture it really defies truth, I have met you and you seen a most affable person, you even brought me a drink or five. Thanks all round, OK I may get heated at times but I've certainly enjoyed the journey and I may get a little abusive at times but can we call it constructive abuse, I am never one to put anyone down but some things I really do get irate about, maybe this is simply a personal problem, or maybe it is simply passion for the subject.... John...
