Hi Arthur and Rik, Maybe you guys called it a truce before it gets ugly. As this reminds me of what happened a few months ago. Remember rules of conduct. Cheers, Steve.

Hello Arthur and all, Yes somebody did die and there was blood in a virtual sense . RIP . John Fisher, Fred Oldphrt, Gerald Racklin or as his friends called him Pepe Rush , they were all executed for behavior not befitting an Internet forum . There was also Pluto who was well behaved but must have fallen on his own sword, he has not been heard of for some time. They were all of the same or similar opinion to your good self Arthur when it came to all things cable also mains products, but unfortunately they could not contain their enthusiasm and were derogatory to their fellow posters. So far Arthur apart from a little sarcasm and a touch of belittlement your post have been informative even if a little predictable and I hope you are spared the same fate as the above listed, but that is up to you. All the best Electro.

I thought this might be an interesting forum, but in fact it's rather dull when only a non-scientific point of view is tolerated by the other posters. It reminds me of the religious reaction to Darwin. I don't know what you all have against the placebo effect when it's the perfect explanation for those that think mains leads sound different. I've already admitted that the placebo effect would work on me, so why the aggressive reaction and rudeness? For Rik. Stuff on the mains side doesn't affect the sound quality because, as I said before, the signal doesn't go through them. I'm still waiting for your contrary explanation.

Hi all, yes I have kept my head down now for a few weeks but I do keep an eye on proceedings. As Arthur Mowe says 'but in fact it's rather dull when only a non-scientific point of view is tolerated by the other posters', that is the reason that professionals like Pluto have not been on again, personally I have been warned not to mention cables on this site by our well meaning editor. Now Electro the people you mention 'they were all executed for behavior not befitting an Internet forum' no I don't believe that to be the reason, I personally believe the reason to be more to do with the advertising content on this site, largely 'cable' companies. You have expounded the claims of a coin to combat travel sickness hence you must be fully aware of the placebo effect and just how strong and effective it can be. It seems that to simply step out of the 'mainstream' and suggest that many claims are complete nonsense is a major 'no no', far better to comply with the status quo. Something reminds me of middle age England here, belief is greater than truth. I also notice that when scientific explanation falls flat, as it often does regarding cables, then the claiments, claim rudeness and aggression as the reason to not listen to the facts. Either way these discussions have been going on since the CD format began and I think therein lies a clue. John...

Hello Arthur , The use of placebo's is well documented in the medical profession, used extensively in drug testing and evaluation , but as soon as the participant is aware or even suspects any of the drugs are in fact a placebo the effect disappears immediately and the test is abandoned. I think most people are now aware of the possibility that mains cables and other products are placebos and yet their effect is as strong as ever , I think you need to look elsewhere for an explanation to this phenomenon. All the best Electro.

 |
Hi Electro, maybe the word 'placebo' is a little misleading but please how do you explane the 'travel sickness coin'???
|
 |
Hi Electro, sorry about 'explaine' in the last over but take a look at this for only £998 odd it must sound wonderful, that is if anyone can even hear a mains lead. Anyway it does come from a well known dealer in the Lake District so it must be good - right? A pure Silver PowerKord!
Silver Classics are constructed like our regular Classic PowerKords™ – but with one big difference. The copper wire used is replaced with Hyper-pure silver.
So think about it... you get KIMBER’s unique cable weave. You get the fantastic Silver plated WATTGATE 350iAg IEC plug, for a low resistance connection. And then you get the wonderfully natural sound that comes from using the finest purity silver. Plus, it looks absolutely gorgeous, too! Just were does the BS actually end? John...

Hello John and Arthur, Nice to hear from you again John. I don't consider myself to be stupid or gullible I had a reasonable education and have done quite well in life on a personal and monetary level , I admit I am a little challenged in the electrical knowledge department but I most certainly know what works and what does not . As I have said before to you John I have spent my whole life listening to things, much in the same way you have described yourself , but that is not to say my hearing is any better than anyone else's but I have a natural skill for understanding what I hear and if something does not add up then I find out why. Blind belief or faith is self defeating and obvious and I will have no part of it in my life, but I do trust my senses and my natural instinct they have served me well . So John / Arthur, answer me this have you ever managed to convince any audiophile or music lover to give up his mains cables or conditioners based on your evidence ? Have you ever done a demonstration actually showing that these products have no effect at all and if so was anyone convinced ? Have either of you actually tried any good quality products of this type with an open mind and without bias ? I'm going to make an assumption and say that the answer is NO to all three questions, and if I am correct gentlemen therein lies the problem. All the best Electro.

Seems amazing to me that even the mighty BT use 'conditioners', and yet some people still dont believe that 'cleaning' the signal makes any difference BT Mains Conditioner (yawns.......)

John, The coin is easily explainable , the power of suggestion on an innocent child's mind ! £998 for a power cord is madness, as I have said before Mr A------s was a honest stand up guy in the past but he has chosen to move to the dark side recently ( nearing retirement age ) and his latest catalogue is an embarrassment to himself and everyone else. All the best Electro.

For Rik. Stuff on the mains side doesn't affect the sound quality because, as I said before, the signal doesn't go through them. I'm still waiting for your contrary explanation.
CLEAN mains makes a differrence. Its been measured, i makes a hugh diffeence to mine, its made a hugh difference to my dads, electros and thousands of other people who have tried it. Its really 'simple' Arthur ANY 'interference' in the mains makes a difference to the equipment it goes through (Be it through the mains itself or 'airbourne' which penetrates the mains) So if you cleaned the mains going into a tv say (Which cant POSSIBLY be a placebo effect as my eyes dont change from day to day im sorry to say), the tv would look more colourful and 3 dimensional etc Braided mains cables do this to a degree, as do proper 'mains conditioners'. Theyve been MEASURED to lesson the interference. So its really down to you dissbelieving that interference makes a difference as opposed to the actual cables and conditioning units actually doing what they say on the tin. To be honest Arthur. Its just really REALLY boring now. Your clearly one of those old fuddy duddies that just wont see sense. Thats upto you mate Me? I couldnt care less WHAT you think........
|
 |
Hi Rik, You are correct, almost every company or organization that uses electrical equipment also uses some form of mains conditioning / filtering , I explained this to Arthur previously but I think he may of missed those posts , or he chose to ignore them as they were irrelevant to his cause. All the best Electro.

Hi John So far I've had absolutely no input from any cable manufacturers regarding these cable-related forum threads. The only posts I've removed have been ones which were personally abusive and the only posters who've been barred are those which did the same. Take a quick glance through the previous posts, it's plain to see there's plenty of anti-cable talk remaining - that's what this forum's about, free and open debate without personal abuse.
