Hi all,

Tonight's post was inspired partly by the flowers I saw on my travels....and then by  the play on C4 "The Unloved"  which meant i cried for the second time today.  It's a weepy so get the hankies if you're watching.   Oh yes, back to the point.  It featured music by Patrick Wolf and I had to listen to it... and I loved it!...It's eclectic too....

Bread "Make it With You"  Youtube Link

this second clip was a find on Spotify as i searchd for something else. It's a quirky 50's no. which i think is supposed to have it's own dance to do to it..if you know it let me know what it is....

Andre Williams (Mr Rhythm) "Bacon Fat" :   Youtube Link

Just after this was posted i got an email which said   "Really so sweet  fun.this track same greece music to 'sirtaki'.."

So check that observation out!

Andre Reiu etc... "Sirtaki".

This is the dance music which was written for The Great Zorba.......It's an orchestral knees up which has to be seen to be believed...  Youtube Link

Ok we didn't really witness it. It's just mass hysteria...

Hi all,

a couple of fun songs...

William Gallison and Madeleine Peyroux "Shoulda Known" Spotify Only.

An Aesop's Tale -equivalent about a Shiny Black Scorpion and a Big Green Frog.....set to music....I was enthralled.

Youtube Link "Between the Bars" which is a cover of Elliot Smith's oiginal. Youtube Link

Alexander Rybak "Fairytale"

This is the  magical song that was the Norwegian Grand Final winning entry in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow. An unbelievable fact.   This is more believable Alexander Rybak composed, wrote and performed this song.   The song was inspired by Rybak’s memories of a former girlfriend, Ingrid Berg Mehus.

The guys dancing or is it tumbling? are worth watching again.....  Youtube link

Hi all,

Three songs tonight..

The first Thanks...for this one,

Danger Danger with "It's One Step From Paradise" -Together, We'll find paradise some day...

The Small Faces  "Ogden's Nut Gone Flake".....This track is a small taster of a great album and avoids the lunacy and Stanley  Unwin  They didn't and still don't come much more nut gone flake than that,  ..it's total insanity and pure genius....I will be forever endebted to the guy who told me about this... and of course the retailer who sold it to me....

Great news the Youtube video  includes Stanley Baldwin.. Youtube Lnk

Gene  "Haunted By You"    Then a lesser known group "Gene" who were influenced by the aforementioned Small Faces and ...Style Council, Clash and The Jam... see what you make of them. ...They had a lead singer with Morrissey-ish looks... Oh well see what you make of them They were often compared to The Smith's....so it's an apt title...still doing it...  Youtube Link

Great house!

Hi all,

Ever worried about cattle and greenhouse gas emissions? Well, accordng to this  BBC News Northern Ireland report perhaps we have reason to worry. "It turns out that in a single day a cow can burp and belch a staggering 400 litres of methane into the atmosphere. A discreet inquiry reveals that most of the gas comes out of the cow's mouth - well over 90% apparently

T Rex" Life's A Gas"   Youtube link fron BBC recordings

The Premiers "Farmer John"..(Live) This is raucous.sound due to the select band of "fans"......They were the authors of the song. It dates back to early 60's..but I bet you're more familiar with Neil Young''s version

Youtube Link clearly a   1964 Warner Brothers label 45  spinning on a Sony turntable... ..they look like a bunch of nice guys after this girl....

I remember Luxembourg. Very phasey station that I listened to when the Medium Wave seemed acceptable and you could still get the mainstream radio channels on there too.  Apparently, the power that they had to use to put out even that poor signal was considered huge in it's day.

I think when I listened to that, it was before I'd even heard stereo.

Hi Chris,

Everyone tells me it was the radio station they listened to under the bedclothes pretending to be asleep so that no one knew.... something about poor reception...from the station and parents too if they were found out.

Hi all

Cat Stevens "On The Road To Find Out" from Tea For The Tillerman album. I've always loved his voice.....his newer albums as Yusuf Islam have lost the naiver acoustic sounds... and the imploring voice...so I've chosen to visit the past with his track.. Youtube link

In 2007, the album was included in the list of "The Definitive 200 Albums of All Time", released by The National Association of Recording Merchandisers and the Rock Hall of Fame.

Grizzly Bear "Blackcurrant Jam" They are a Brooklyn based indie Rock band. They opened for Radiohead on the 2nd leg of their US tour. and became Johnny Greenwood's favourite band...

This track was only released on "Worried Noodles"a compilation album. Spotify Only. ....

Youtube Link to Knife  -  The video is fascinating ....

Look out for "Yellow House" and "Veckatimest" albums.

Hi all,

Dina Carroll with Quartz. " It's Too Late"   Quartz are a swedish duo.   It is a cover of Carol King's song.  Dina  Carroll provided the vocals and it in turn provided her with a breakthrough into the charts when it reached No.8 and kickstarted her career.   Youtube Link    It has lyrics so no excuse for not joining in.

followed by  Dina Carroll "Mind Body and Soul"  if you're on Spotify....  It's the The B side of Escaping  Youtube Link    Both tracks are  superb

Give it an 'Earing. 'Ere.
