It's  Too Good To Be Kept A Secret

Some music just washes on by you.  Some is discovered fresh and new pristine from the press, or just to you...  others rediscovered from the pile of old vinyl or CD's etc....

So if you've found something that you feel deserves a wider audience, an old favourite long forgotten but deserves an introducion to a new generation or just  too good to leave rotting in the pile.....Give It An 'Earing 'Ere...and tell us why....

I've added two to the spotify   Give it an 'Earing. 'Ere.

Laura Izibor "Shine"  Link to her song's video

New to me.....Gentle up-beat jazz vocals...love the lyric "got a pain in the face from all your stressing out!...."   We don't promote enough of these sounds....

Leadbelly  from album  "The Roots of Led Zepplin" unable to fnd a link elsewhere.

This was new to  me.........and made me think that we owe the old 'uns a lot for the musical heritage they have given us...."A Cappella' version..... Just, his voice and hands holding the whole thing together....

Have fun...let's share the music.

I love Leadbelly's music.  At least as good as Robert Johnson in my opinion.  The best album from a recording point of view (significantly better than the Library of Congress recordings)  is actually Alabama Bound.  This was one of the few commercially produced albums  that he did for RCA with the Golden Gate Quartet.  I think it might also be known as or form a part of 'Take This Hammer' as it was released in the 'states.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for that I'll add it to my wish list....already had someone ask me where it was available - you're ia star.....

12 string guitar is enough to make a crowd turn out to see him....

I was going to post this here because friend has just mentioned that if they could they'd add this....It's not on Spotify..I have found it on Youtube so here's the link for everyone

In The Court of the Crimson King - King Crimson and so long as it doesn't disappear we can all listen to for  while longer.....

Nice one Tamara - do you want to make that Spotify list collaborative so we can all add to it?

Just realised that's a different version of Black Betty to the one I know - same style but longer. He's still doing that strange singing in 4/4 but clapping in 3/4 time (I think) which really makes his version unique.

HI Dave,

THANKS...I'll  kick myself as soon as I've left the keyboard...

I have been surprised at the feedback on that one song.  All huge rock fans who are amazed and are looking for his works availability.  They all mentioned the Nirvana cover on your thread "Superior Covers" but this convinced of his quality....Thanks for the timing detail - i woudn't pick up on that I'll pass it on thanks again.  All the best  Tamara

Hi all,

Today's Good Friday.....and heading towards a Bank Holiday which usually means my personal bank account's hammered and occasionally myself....

First up is an appropriately titled song by Joe Jackson.  Friday.  I love the concept.....it's got a great beat, tells a story and it's so real life....... especially the concept of clocking in.... "Friday's her magic day....Friday rules OK."

Then to soothe those with a gentler nature....there is .  Dionne Warrick's  Love Song. Of course she's better known for her Grammy Award winning song "Do You know The Way To San Jose?"...but you'd be word perfect and that spoils the fun.....no rain on the holiday parades please.....

Hope that solves it..... all the best Tamara

What can I say...It's springtime.. I am going to enjoy the outdoors....... and I hope you will too.

Can't remember when I last heard this but it sums up the spirit of just now...   Springtime Promises - Pentangle  Youtube link

and then, Easter is great for others peppering you with their favourites.  Crowd reaction suggested  this was the most popular: so being generous. Thought I'd give it another 'earing 'ere ......  Davy's On The Road Again...  Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Youtube link: old but gold footage

Hi All,

Something fresh and new... The Bird and The Bee's song "My Love"  from "Ray Guns Are Not Just The Future"    You Tube Link

And next is  Josh Ritter's tune "Come and Find Me" which is charrming  in the way that only the Golden Age can conjure up.  It was reportedly made for the kind of money of those days too.  A meagre $1,000 -   It's  on The "Golden Age of Radio"  album 2001.  For me it's one of the best and brings hope for the music hungry in these hard pressed times.   You Tube Link

Here's one that is pretty much forgotten that shouldn't be.  Laura Nyro's Eli and the Thirteenth Confession.  She's like a more polished and adult Carole King.  She did only three albums that were really top rank; the other two were Gonna Take a Miracle and More Than a New Discovery (Also known as 'First Songs').

Largely forgotten, she doesn't have a myspace and her youtube spots are infrequent and poor quality.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for that one   ..I've posted "Eli's Coming" on the Spotify site...the album will display if the titles's cliicked on.  Gonna Take a Miracle shows  The other album doesn't show on Spotify. .but there are others......

Her voice reminds me of Petula Clarke /Dusty Springfield sound and era  ...Wow  I am surprised that we've not heard more of her... but we obviously have of her songs...they are done by a huge variety others  Wiki Laura Nyro link  Amaziing.  All the best Tamara
