My boyfriend is obsessed with speakers and can bore anyone about them (what on earth am I doihng with him? lol) He has a huge set of floor standing ones which quite frankly look bloody ancient to me, but how great it would be for him to arrive home to these beauties!(I'd lie and tell him I'd chosen them myself!)

got a new bose system.....no speakers though lol! chucked the crappy alba thing away......itsnot worthy of being in the uk...never mind in my bedroom! i hate it. got bose dvd player of ebay for $200 (about £120) which i thought was quite cheap...didnt even have to pay duty! good, eh?

 Lindsey - what masculine image are you refering to? If it's the one when you are posting then it's only visible to you whailst your logged on - the rest of us don't see anything. Just upload your own picture if you want though.

ebay i think everyone thought it was a scam but turned out it wasnt.....btw its a lifestyle 28 dvd player only....no speakers. and yes it was brand new! well cheap!

i have a pair of cheap denon speakers hooked up 2 it - it sounds average i suppose. although they r quite loud, theyre a bit muffled....oh well wat should i expect from old speakers??

 Well, I'm not ever going to be providing any sort of informative stuff on this forum so that's one person out of the running in the competition. I think they're ugly things anyway but whatever floats your boat!

Iv'e read so much dross about speaker cables and gold terminations yet I have been using 3Ghz Belden coax cable to great effect and at a fraction of the cost of dedicated specialist cables, go on give it a try youll be pleasantly suprised

The Belden is very good as I use a component lead from my dvd player to plasma using this lead and the difference in picture quality is great....

i listened to a bose sounddock.... OMG!
you WOULD NOT BELIEVE what sound they pump out. the bass is absolutely awesome, and the triport headphones are just WELL WORTH the money.....i recommend tem to evryone and they are £91 on empiredirect.com

Had a listen to one of the Bose systems one day in a shop enevironment...don't know what model number or package they were as they tend to all look the same....Souunded good but didn't think the bass was up to a dedicated floorstanding system.....

Kyle....your probably spot on as most general shops not are not specifically hi-fi specialists tend not to set up the system with as much care....:)

lol i went to a shop called sevenoaks.....its aproper dealer although its only a small one in leeds. its about a half mile out of town aswell. it took me 30mins before i decided to go into the apple shop (they have internet for free) so i went on a map website, then went straight to it! as it goes, i had walked past it without noticing it as i thought it would have been a bigger store......am i boring u? lol. neway thts mi 'little' story of my trip 2 town!
