Hey, I think I agree- but which CD players have you tried it against?

Yamaha cd93 cheap I know but does its job
Nad c520 Nad c521bee
These are great machines - still no match for the At110 fitted debut 3.
hope this helps.

Thanks, impressed!
I got mine with the standard Ortofon catridge, haven't decided yet how it compares to my brand new Arcam DV79.

hi again...
swap the ortofon for the Audio Technica AT110e what ia difference it make - staggering.
Below is a link to a website in the UK where you can get these cartridges.

price is £30 uk pounds - well worht it!
I have not read a bad review yet, only experienced their flexibility and tremendous stereo imaging.

Hi just got myself project debut 3, and im wondering what amp i should get to get the best out of it,(i am on a budget)
|
 |
I have an old NAD 3020 from early 80s, teh sound is awesome with the project turntable. V warm and rich. If you want a "new" amp, go for a new NAD in the £200 - 300 pric3 range

I have a Project 2 with standard cartridge set up with a massive Pioneer amp and a Sony CD player, eventually found a CD & vinyl of the same track, and after years of only CD listening I was staggerd by the similarity of the sound in both dynamics and responce. The only difference being background noise and crackle from my biitsale vinyl purchase. Quite a shock as I thought that CD knocked the pants off vinyl, so maybe an excellent turntable & crtridge...

David Parker 3 - The best budget amps for vinyl are Rotel, NAD or base level Arcam (all three still fit decent phono stages). IMO a Rotel works really well with a Project deck. It's no surprise given that both were originally distributed in the UK by the same company.

I just bought the Pro-ject Debut III on trip back to the UK. I was hoping for a sound improvement on own a still working Technics SL7 from 20+ years ago (which admittedly cost around 200 quid back then).
My initial impression is that they're pretty much the same, and the SL7 is probably better!!
Maybe I made a mistake...
The SL7 has a a OVP20 cartridge, so my one hope is to put it down to that, and go and upgrade the cartridge too.
Was I hoping for too much from a budget deck?

ok, an update.
On further inspection I realized that my SL7 P-mount cartridge has a OM20 stylus!! So I swapped the two and put my favorite Enya "Celts" disk back on.
Gone is the muddy sound, the base is clear and defined.
I think it betters the SL7 (with OM20) but don't wish to risk the stylus by keep swapping it. SL7 with OMB 5E now sounds really bad!!

Hi there,
I am thinking about buying a Pro-Ject Debut III turntable, but I am not sure whether it is worth going for the more expensive Pro-Ject Xpression (1 or 2 model).
Could I get any help from you turntable experts please?
Do you think I should go for the Debut III or the Xpression 1 or 2 model?
And one more thing: Do they all have a dust cover even if it's not shown on the pictures?
Many thanks indeed.
Best regards
Matthias
