Hello

What do other guys think of the MF A5cr Pwr Amplifier?

Thanks Yas

MF produces very nice sounding amps... I was able to hear the A3.2 and was very pleased - I guess the A5 will not disapoint

Hi Miquel
Did you manage to hear the MF A5 Pwr amplifier combined with the MF A5cr Pre amp, and what is your opinion?
Thanks
Yas

As I told you, I heard the A3.2, not the A5

Hi Yas,

Did listen to A5 KIT when deciding on a recent upgrade. Found it overly soft, warm and maybe a little flabby when compared to my Naim kit. Beautifully built and spec'd, though.
Decided to continue with the Naim in the end.I think it was a good decision.

Steve.

Hello Steve,
I seem a bit puzzled, you described the sound of the MF A5 kit as soft, warm and a bit flabby, what sort of interconnects, speaker cable, and speakers were used with the A5's?
I am using the A5cr Pre and Pwr amps with wait for it, an Arcam CD 72T, Michell Gyrodec/QC Pwr supply and Kef Ref 1:2 spks cables are Nordost Red Dawn Pre - Pwr and CD - Pre with VDH Cleartrack biwire and I certainly did not find it warm. Refined yes but not warm. I think it all depends on the interconnects and speaker cables being used.
Yas

Hi Yas,
No puzzlement. Just a question of preference.
Yeh,refined is a good word, though I still believe it's a soft sound. I had MF when I first started on hifi trail.Loved it,though afer a few years, felt it lacked detail immediacy. I mostly listen to classical, though I'm partial to some Tom Waits or Nick Cave.
My feelings didn't really change when I heard the A5. I still believe it is a beautifully built and realised, though it's sound doesn't float my boat.I now use Naim 82 with 180 power amp,Nordost interconnect and Kimber 8TC speaker cable.
