I have a cyrus system including cyrus 7Q cd player with psx power supply, cyrus ca7.5 pre amp set of pa7.5 monoblocks with spender s8 speakers. Iam considering adding two further monoblocks which would give me a total of 4 monoblocks so my speakers will be bi-amped will this be the best way forward or should i look at my source cd setup? Or should i consider a change of speakers. Or do all three to get the best performance. Any readers got any suggestions re the way forward with my setup.
Well it all depends on what type of sound that you are after. If you want your music to sound tighter, faster with even more excitement than yes. But if you are after a more bigger and powerful sound well I would say no, you will have to change your cd player to a more refined sounding one, or sell your amps and buy a more beefy sounding Pre and Pwr. Your Spender S8's that you are using are fine.
Thank you for youe advice. I think you are right about thr source cd. any suggestions on what cd ? A more beefy pre and power ? May be what would you think may help with a more musical sound. I would like to bi- amp. Maybe valve setup? What do you or any readers think. Are the spenders too small? I would like to consider a 3 way speaker setup. Yours Mike Byrne
hey mike try out a couple of cd players after the source is more important, the cyrus cd players all tend to sound detailed and tight anyway if you want a more blanced sound may i suggest the arcan cd192, roksan kandy cd
I'd take a different view. I think the source is only the most important part of the chain when that source is analogue. Most modern CD players are excellent & you can get some fabulous DACs for around £100 (The Beresford is a well known case in point http://www.homehifi.co.uk/main/main.html).
Biamping is almost always a good move. It helps in lots of ways, particularly if you already like the house sound of the manufacturer that you've chosen.
They're very good speakers. I'd change those last of all if that's the kind of sound you like. It's certainly a sound that I like very much.
