I use a sacd/dvd player which uses 6 cables to connect to my Denon 2106 av amp. Will I get a better sound by changing to a single digital audio interconnect(considering ixos-608-100)

mm depends on your cd player, by using the digital out on your cd to connect to your amp will bypass the digital to analouge converter in your cd player and use the one in your amp. chances are the DAC in your cd player is betterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Also remember a digital connection will void any multichannel SACD and DVD-A sound comming from your DVD player. It'l just be stereo from there on so you might want to stick to the analog's.

In order to play SACD you'll have to stick to analogue leads I believe, as I don’t think that SACD digital output will code down a single bitstream cable.

My 2807 has a ‘Denon Link’ socket, yours may also. If your DVD is a reasonably high spec Denon you can use this to transfer SACD outputs from your player. Otherwise you’re stuck with the analogue pairs.

I really wouldn’t worry too much though – I couldn’t find much difference at all between the analogue pair and the digital output for playing CDs on my set-up even with a back-to-back comparison.

I use a digital ieee 1394 cable from my denon 3920 into my yamaha av amp and this carries full dvd and sacd channel information. I do not use analogue leads.
