I have auditioned both the arcam solo and primare although not at the same time. I feel the primare is the better deal but I was using a pari of £4k speakers when i heard it whilst the solo was auditioned with a pair of £1k speakers. Also, if I opt for either is better to go for speakers of a similar cost to the unit? the primare is a bit bright so what is the best speaker match at around £1k? whereas the solo is a bit flat so is it better to go for a more forward sounding speaker?
thanks

Personally, I think the Primare is the better of the two. It's the sort of system that can take being partnered with £4,000 speakers, after all.

The Solo is very good, especially with smaller speakers in smaller rooms. It's especially good with little PMCs. If you have a bigger room and want to use larger full-range speakers, go with the Primare.

Alan, Thanks for your reply. I am inclined to agree with you and the Primare also has a better upgrade path and is better built. However, rumour has it that Primare may be launching their 2nd generation one box in 2007, so i may wait.
