sony rcd-w3 problem
cd player 'sticking'

this cd player had an intermittent problem which now seems to be permanent. It will play a cd for about 28 secs, then jumps back to the beginning, or 'sticks' at that point. another cd got to 35 secs, then jumped back to 28 repeatedly.
Previously, i discovered that 'fast-forwarding' the player past that spot would work or jumping to the next track or indeed right through the cd would work. i.e it would play the first track o.k, but now just the first 28 seconds,- i cant select any other tracks.

anyone know what the problem might be? i am hoping it's something simple i can fix myself rather than spend a small fortune for someone just to look at it. I have tried cleaning discs several times.
thanks

As the problem occurs on more than one cd it suggests that the player is faulty. Have you tried a cd head cleaner? otherwise it looks like repair or replace.

The problem is with the player the one I own will play for 5 minutes the goes back to the begining again, this machine went back to Sony under the warranty to be repaired low and behold 13 months later I am back to square one. I got intouch with my local Sony dealer who wanted £50 deposit to send it to the repairs dept. with no garrauntees that it would not cost anymore. Throw it in the bin and upgrade to the RCD-W100.
