I have "reasonable" (lower mid-range I suppose)surround system which is used principally for playing surround music - SACD and ordinary two channel stereo. Currently I have no subwoofer since I doubted its necessity for reproducing small scale chamber ensemble music.

I am slightly aware of a slight lack of "depth" (for want of a better word) and wonder if the addition of a subwoofer would help.
