I recently got myself Sony's entry-level DVD player to go in the bedroom. I've got no gripes about the player itself BUT I travel abroad on a weekly basis with my job and pick up LOADS of foreign DVD's. I'd love the new player to be upgraded to multi-region, but my local shop wants to charge £19.99 to zap it with a special remote. Does anyone know anywhere I can find out the codes so I can do it myself?
Do such things exist? When I tried to look for the same thing for my Panasonic, all I could find online was people in forums going round and round in cirlces! Chasing after their own tails!
That looks great Al - Out of interest, do you know if the same region coding applied to SACD and DVD-A discs that you can get? If not, does anyone know if there are any plans to introduce that sort of thing?
I'm not aware of any region coding for SACD & DVD-A. As they are audio formats I'm guessing there isn't such a big issue as there is with films. I could be wrong! Anyone else know about this?
I don't think there's any coding on SACD, as I brouhgt some back from the US last year. Can't speak for DVD-A tho... I doubt it tho, the music industry seems to embrace imports (as long as it isn't being done by cheap online sellers) as it usually helps to increase sales when the genuine article comes out.
John, Just go into google and type in muli regon hacks and there are many sites that will accomodate you. It just involves prssing buttons on your remote. It worked for me. Paul.
Abolutely correct Paul, did you know people actually sell lists of dvd hacks on ebay for £££'s though? Sell enough of them and you could be buying top of range MULTI-region dvd players for yourself!
