Wonder if anyone can advise/has suffered a similar problem here.

I have a 7 year old Marantz CD63MKII KI Sig player - it's been looked after well and not seen particularly heavy usage. A while back it developed a fault whereby it will not play back past a certain point of a CD. Initially I thought it was Track # 4 that was the problem but in testing yesterday with
* CD of many short tracks
* CD with just one v long track
it disporoved this theory. It does seem to be stopping at around the 13 minute mark at which point it just stops playback and returns to a state similar to that when you have just entered a disk - the OSD shows total number of tracks & total playback time.

I am guessing at some kind of laser problem but pretty much in the dark to be honest.

Has anyone any advice / or suffered similar problems?

Take it to a good audio dealer.

Instead of going to the expense of taking you old c.d.player to a dealer, which could prove expensive, try using a c.d.lense cleaner.If this cures the problem try leaving your c.d player switched on all the time. And every now and then put a disc in and leave on repeated play for 24 hrs,as this tends to refresh the transport mechanism.

I would probably agree with David.  You're usually in to £120 a visit when you get things repaired these days although I think a 63 ki sig is still worth repairing.
