I know most people are talking about iPod and stuff on here, but does anyone have any experience of in-car DVD players? I'd quite like to buy one at some stage, but know little about the different options...

You can pick up portables with a built in LCD screen for well under £200 these days from the usual suspects. That seems like a good way to start experimenting with portable DVD, without the expense of having something fitted to the car.

Yeah, i've got one of those - they make great x-mas presents, hehe!

Hi,
These incar DVD players and screens are cheaper than you think. I got one from www.pcandice.co.uk about a month ago and was worried that it was so much cheaper than the likes of halfords. The product turned out just as good as I wanted and you should see peoples faces when I play dvd in the car!!!

How much does that sorta thing set you back, Chris? I've got a car CD player mounted in the kitchen for playin tunes when i've got my marigolds on (hehe)... Perhaps I could rig up a little DVD instead?!

Nick, what kind of car dvd player are you looking for? a portable one thats removable from the car, or a fully installed one which is a permenant feature of the car?

Basically this

I bought the CASKA CA1602 it was advertised at £600 but I managed to get them down to £460 for it. Its not just a DVD player it has built in TV tuner which is great if your stuck in traffic or waiting for someone. Radio AM/FM tuner and has the option of a rear parking sensor input. I was also told that a GPS unit could be sourced for SAT NAV but I couldn't afford at the time. I contemplated an LCD screen and seperate player in the boot but just thought that the wires would look bad.

I have just noticed that http://www.pcandice.co.uk have added a Pioneer AVIC-X1 navigation system to the site at just £500. That has got to be a bargain, anyway take care for now everyone.
