I have recently purchased the Philips HTS9800W and have experienced some problems. I am hoping that there are folk out there can help!
The first issue is that my rear speakers "whistle". It doesn't seem to matter where I position these, the whistling does not stop. This is not evident when the volume for music and scenes but when there is a quiet moment or with volumes low the whistling can be heard and is really annoying. I have no other wireless systems so it is not interefernce there, and I've also tried the other wireless setting, which makes no difference. In addition to the whistle issue, the first time I turn on the system I always getting a popping sound which is rectified by turning off the system and turning on again. No idea why this happens either.
The second issue is with the audio inputs. I have Sky HD which has digital optical out where as the input for the Philips is not. Thus, to get broadcasted programmes through the Philips I need to use the red and white audio outputs, which means no 6.1 (or 5.1) sound surround on sky films, rather just dolby prologic.
Finally, moving between sources is really tedious. Is this just me or have others experienced this?
