have just bought a 428XD. All that I can say is ... Believe the hype.

I spent months looking at numerous LCD's and other plasma's and up to purchasing the Pioneer 428XD my selected choice was the Panasonic 42PZ700 (Full HD).

I was fortunate to able to compare both sets side-by-side watching my all time favourite movie Star Wars. Immediately it came apparent that the Pioneer colours were richer, more vibrant with the resultant picture looking fantastic, especially scenes having dark/black backgrounds. I then watched Dreamgirls on Blu-Ray and the skin tone on the Pioneer were so much more natural than the Panny.

Now that I've had the TV for a week, I'm simply loving it.

SD Freeview is good though channel changing is a bit slow.

There are so many options/settings on the Pioneer it is overwhelming however altering the basic colour, brightness etc is easy, fortunately.

I'm hoping to buy a blu-ray and a HD-DVD add-on for my XBOX 360 shortly to ascertain how good HD pictures are.

In a word, the TV definite warrants an audition, if you're looking to buy a new TV. In my opinion, it simply beats Full HD models by some margin of the same screen size.

Yes you should. I bought my Pioneer 428XD for £2000 with a five year warranty including a Spectral PL120 stand (worth £500). Your deal for Pioneer 508XD is exceptional value and you should go for it as you won't be disappointed.

Just received and set up the new Pioneer PDP-LX508D with Sky HD. WOW!!!   I could not believe what I was watching. I have had the PDP-436XDE since March last year and thought that was out of this world. I used to be a Panasonic fan but thats it now. I am a dedicated 'Pioneer'. I am watching HD football at the moment. You feel you could just step out on the pitch, even my wife remarked 'it was better that being in the stadium' and thats at 1080i on a 1080p. I am waiting for the unscaling Pioneer BDP-LX70 to complete the set-up. In my opinion if anybody's looking for the best don't consider anything else.  (you can get the plasma at £3375 and the BDP at £800)

The forum posts I have read are very helpful.  It is great that members take the trouble to inform others.
