What is the point of this Amplifier if you cannot purchase it? The only retailer for Cambridge is Richer Sounds and they are only selling the old model.

As this is a new model you will probebly have to arder it through Richer Sounds ?

Hi Carl, hope youre feeling alright mate, the Cambridge amps arent worth a light [IMO],you could do far better for the money, from the likes of Rotel,Yamaha,NAD, or Denon, and as far as i,m aware the Cambridge brand is not only sold by R/S but owned and manufactured by them, have you seen the price of their pre power combo, you could buy a Sugden integrated for that kind of money, that would not only look better, sound better, but you,d know you had a class act.........Dave

Hi David. I agree with you about the looks om Cambridge Audio 840A V.2 does not look sexy at all. But did you hear to it? I have heard a few amps the last 2 weeks, and I find that Cambridge Audio 840A V.2 and Name Nait5i was the best - That said the other amps I listent to was more expensive. I find it very clear - I dont know it can play noiserock - It sounds totally noisefree.

If you can get the V1 for significantly less than the V2, that is a better purchase.  I've heard people from Cambridge say that the V2 is better but not significantly.  For £250 less my money would be going on a V1.  A little while ago they were offering it for £399 to people on their mailing list.

It's a very good amp; I have one.  Marginally on the smooth side of neutral.  It's a touch behind a Sugden A21 but not that much and with a lot more power.  Where Sugden really scores is in second hand value but you're talking about a significantly more expensive amp.

The best time to buy a Cambridge amp is usually when they're being phased out.

No; they're not the same operation that Stan Curtis led but they're doing some really good stuff at the moment on the stereo side.  I think the 840c is actually the star of the range.

I heard a pair of Performance 6 just recently.  An interesting listen. Good resolution but I was a little too aware of where the drivers were. Very difficult to audition them - these were the first that I've ever seen.
