I use cyrus CD 8 front end, DAC and 8 vs amp connected to Ruark Sabre 3 with very expensive Ecosse MS4.45 speaker cable which I retained from a previous system which was a more laid back sound thanks to Sugden amp.  The present set up whilst detailed, punchy, good bass extension, gives good incite to what is being played is a litle forward and bright at high frequencies.  I wonder whether the Cyrus bi wire cable would take some of the edge off without losing much of the positive qualities of the Ecosse.  The Ecosse cosst around £370 for a 2 metre pair whereas the Cyrus would be about £100.  I am also experimenting between the Cyrus interconnect and the Ecosse Nu Diva.  The Cyrus is definietly less bright but the NU Diva has the edge on detail

Any views?

I've just been looking into wiring options for my No. 2 hifi setup which is quite old

Meridian 206B CD
MF X-P100 & X-A200 amps
EPOS ES14s on stands

I looked at various reviews and pricepoints including the MS4.45 cable. I've just order today some Atlas hyper biwire (2 x 2m lengths) which work out at £130 with appropriate terminations. The problem is that longer runs mean the cost goes up proportionately, but this seemed like a reasonably priced, good value option that's had excellent reviews. If you don't need biwire then Atlas Hyper 2.0 seems best.

Also bought a pair of DNM Reson TBB100 interconnects for my CD/pre/amp connections - should have them in a couple of days.

I recently purchased a 2.5 meter pair of the Ecosse MS4.45 and put them to the test with Dali Hallcon 800 speakers ( with a super ribbon tweeter ), a Cary 30W integrated tube amp, and a Rega Apollo CD player. Very smooth and very listenable. Accurate in the mid range and delicate with the highs.... a bit thick in the low end, until the tubes warmed up and then.... wow. The MS4.45s are a great value and provide a delightful presentation of all types of music.

I also tried the MS4.45s with a Vac 100W amp and a Cary pre amp, but prefer the 30W integrated as the Dalis are 91db efficient. The 30W Cary is very smooth, while the other rig was a bit too punchy with the MS4.45

Thanks for both your contributions to this vexed question.  I am sticking with the Ecosse cables for now and going to research speakers to go with the Cyrus electronics.  Dynaudio, Spendor are on the shortlist.  Any other suggestions around budget £1k and will certainly be looking for used/ex dem rather than new.  Room size 4 metres x 8 metres listenng across the room rather than down it.
