Thanks Chris for your help. I'll add it to my Xmas list.

There are also a lot of DAB portables with line outs which may be better too. This link is the cheapest proper tuner I know about for £90. My father has one - seems OK for the money.

As you say looks good value, but with the Matsui being only £39.99 now, I think I'll give that a go and upgrade completely some time in the future with possibly a seperate amp and DAB Tuner.

Thanks All

As a final word on the subject (don't know why I didn't think of it before), I took my audio lead out of the CD input on the receiver and plugged it in the Video input. Switched the front to Video, played a CD, and hey presto. So I can't foresee any problems now. Thanks for your help.

I was the lucky January AV review winner when I joined the site and have just received a SONUS 1XT DAB radio.

I am incredibly impressed with the quality of build, ergonomics and sound quality delivered by this small dab radio it is superb for a bedroom/ kitchen application.

It is a pity though that DAB as a serious means of transmitting HI FI quality broadcasts appears to be going no where. Only Classic FM and Radio 3 approached decent dynamic low distortion music.

It appears that overcrowded multiplexes, and low bit transmission rates will be the status quo.

Does anyone think I am being pessimitic or is the dream of the scientists to give the UK public CD quality radeo just a pipe dream squashed by commercial considerations?

Perhaps the scientists could now focus on an inain chatter and advert suppression system for DAB as I also fear in a few years we will have hundreds of rubbish channels hogging the limited bandwidth.

ON a good note thankyou again to AV review for a superb introduction to DAB

Regards
David Wood

I seem to hear nothing but praise for most of the Pure digital radios.

I'm getting very tempted by the new Pure Evoke 3 with memory card and pause and rewind live radio feature.

The prospect of being able to record my favourite radio programmes and listen to them instead of the usual daytime offerings is quite appealling.

Has anyone tried this yet. What's the sound quality like from "puased and rewound" programmes and the SD memory card? Also what kind of sound quality do you get from the headphone output?
