I was the lucky January AV review winner when I joined the site and have just received a SONUS 1XT DAB radio.
I am incredibly impressed with the quality of build, ergonomics and sound quality delivered by this small dab radio it is superb for a bedroom/ kitchen application.
It is a pity though that DAB as a serious means of transmitting HI FI quality broadcasts appears to be going no where. Only Classic FM and Radio 3 approached decent dynamic low distortion music.
It appears that overcrowded multiplexes, and low bit transmission rates will be the status quo.
Does anyone think I am being pessimitic or is the dream of the scientists to give the UK public CD quality radeo just a pipe dream squashed by commercial considerations?
Perhaps the scientists could now focus on an inain chatter and advert suppression system for DAB as I also fear in a few years we will have hundreds of rubbish channels hogging the limited bandwidth.
ON a good note thankyou again to AV review for a superb introduction to DAB
