Hi Mihai, I think most CD players that play back mp3 discs are more likely to be dvd players that have support for everything from CD, DVD and mp3 to SACD, DVDA and DivX. So it may be worth investing in one of these, albeit one known equally well for its audio playback as its visual. If you choose to do it this way you may consider spending a bit more but if not consider this Denon offering.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the suggestions. I know Marantz very well, in fact my current player is the Marantz 6000 OSE, a great sounding machine but it dislikes even most cd-r's, let alone mp3 ones. Still, sound quality will still be my priority which is why I'm relectant to consider dvd players.
To Euler, no offence - yet, it so happens that I have certain material that is only available in mp3 format. Besides, reproduction quality applies to all formats when played back, not just standard cd's.
Indeed reproduction quality does apply to all formats, my point was merely that compressed sound will never be as good as uncompressed so it seemed strange that quality was your main concern. A misunderstanding really, you were refering to the playback quality of the player, me to the source material.
Just out of interest what material do you have that is only available in mp3?
