Help needed please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Ipurchased a Pioneer surround sound speaker kit to go with a Sony AV Amp.The problem is with the audio input on the back of the sub-woofer,which consists of one red and one black connector into which you insert the bare wires(one in each).I bought a special sub-woofer cable over the internet and this is ok at the amp end,but will not fit the sub end as it is just a metal connector What can I use to connect up ,please. HELP!!!!!!!

Derek,
I may be wrong, but it sounds like the subwoofer is connected using speaker wire(?). I had this connection in an all-in-one Denon system. Trouble is, which is what you've discovered, a separates amp/receiver has the usual single coaxial connection.
Sadly, the only suggestion I can make is to check the Sony amp for any other way to connect the subwoofer. Otherwise, it may be necessary to exchange the speaker system - if it's not too late!
Hopefully, it's not a problem that can't be fixed!

Not 100% certin, but the coax connection from your amp is probably to drive a powered subwoofer (i.e. a subwoofer with an amp in) and the pioneer subwoofer (if it's taking speaker cable) is probably passive/not powered. So even if you get a cable to convert between the two the amp won't be providing enough signal to drive your speaker. Don't ttake this as gospel, but worth checking out.

Phlip's solutions are right either way - either connect the subwoofer to another output (if there is one) or replace the speakers.

Good luck!
