I've always used Sony players 'cause I didn't want to jump on the iPod bandwagon. I finally did with the new 5G video one and have to say it's amazing. Worth all the hype it gets. Hard to admit, but true.

That was roughly my reaction. I do think that Itunes is the strongest part of the product though & it would be good if that is opened up to other players following the Monopoly case that is being examined in the 'States.

Using Itunes with something like a Sony HD5 might be a nice thing to do.

Just one word of warning. Only been using the 5G iPod for a few weeks but already the screen is really scratched. I've been carrying around my Nokia 6630 phone for over 6 months and that's hardly got any scratches on it at all.

I wonder whether Apple want our iPods to degrade so that we're forced to buy the new model when it comes out...

Who would have thought it Alex? Big companies trying to fleece us! No way!

Just look at the quality headphones that all these mp3/psp/ipod things come equiped with.

I'm still using an Ipod Mini and quite happy with it.

Sound quality is great and so is the battery life.  I listen to it at work so wouldn't be allowed to watch video on one of these new posh ones anyway.

I refused to jump on the iPod wagon for many years and always had Sony Players- great little players but next to useless since the SonicStage software was fiddly, slow and crashed both of my PCs about 8 in 10 uses.  I gave up and got an 80GB 5th Gen iPod which has been fantastic.  Except for this week when, 18 months old, it suddenly died on me.  I can't get any signs of life, so it looks like I'm in for an expensive parts repair, even if I do it myself.  I'm starting to wish I'd kept my old cassette walkman!

Have put all my music on my computer's seperate hard drive using windows media player 11 so is all in WMA format. Then I got given an old 40gb ipod. Guess what?-need to convert all my music again. Why can't we have more compatibility between players and music formats?

I agree there are loads of them...but obviously there is a demand and people buy them so they keep making them, we should either boycott them or go with the flow
