The Verve, Ocean Colour Scene etc etc...
ah, now thats proper music!
What were you listening to around this fantastic musical decade?
and do you reckon its come back round with all of these modern bands?
The mid 90's eh? I was in my teens so forgive me if any of these are really shocking.
Hmmm, let me think... Oasis (obviously), Smashing Pumkpins, all those dodgy grunge bands, Pixies (still listening to them), Supergrass and a load of Britpop bands I can't remember the names of. Pretty obvious choices I s'pose.
What modern bands take your fancy mr.milk?
I would'nt say its come back round completely, but the influences are there if you listen - Kaiser Chiefs (Blur, Suede), Kasabian (Stone Roses), Wire Daisies (Cranberries, 10000 Maniacs).....then again everything repeats eventually!! What is scary is the speed that "revivals" come round now...before too long we could end up having revivals of last week (as opposed to an 80s revival!! lol)
It would have to be Oasis I'm afraid. Predictable I know but I remember the b/w fly-posters all over Manchester for Cigarettes & Alcohol.
i think u can here alot of early supergrass influence in the kaisers..... unfortunatly so many of these bands seem to lack any vision or imagination these days
I know a lot of these groups can sound derivative, but you've got to be excited about some of the new music coming out?
I've not heard anything musically that's excited me as much as the Atctic Monkeys in a long time. Although they don't even have enought material for an Album yet. Early days.
I wasn't a teenager in the mid 90's and Oasis get on my nerves a bit now. I can listen to it ocassionaly but it gets boring. I enjoyed it then.
Other groups like James and the Laid album, The Cranberries did one corking album about 1995 and The Bends by Radiohead are the high watermarks of mid 90's music for me.
I have to agree the Arctic Monkey's are shaping up to be quite special, I've heard about five of their tracks and liked them all. Obviously the influences are there for all to see but music can never be truly original so you can't fault a band for having influences.
Particularly loving 'Scummy' which I believe is going to be their second single...
Also I have to pick up on Steve's comments of how quickly revivals come round - you're absolutely right! Having a 'brit pop' revival already seems crazy, the next revival will be dance music I reckon...
hopefully the garage badboy gang style craze music won't be making a comeback. I fear it will though!
Artic Monkeys are rockin at the moment. Are these bands just a one album fad though? i hope not!
I'd like to be a talking head on a programme called "I remember last week"
I'll talk authoratively about what we used to do then, how the music was better and that you could leave your front door open......blah, blah, blah.
It's funny about things coming around though, did you know that the phrase there's nothing new under the sun is about 2,000 years old - I believe a Roman coined it!
And there's nothing new and original about my post, so I'll get off and let others contribute something worthwhile.

Ocean Colour Scene? Proper music?! Now now milkster, they were bloomin' rubbish. Verve weren't too bad I admit. A Northern Soul was a pretty good album.
Hundred Mile High City mr Mills? Riverboat Song? The day we caught the train?
Classics!
Pseudo classics I'd say liquid milk. What's the story behind your name anway? I'm intreged!
Since I was born in 1980s, I was listening to bands like Take That, Oasis and of course; Boyzone!!
I think its coming around again, bring back BritPop! Anything to get us away from all this dodgy R&B and rap rubbish.
But I hope the bands of the time stay away and let the new kids do it. The new Oasis album was an improvement over the last, but its no Definately Maybe.
Take That have reformed! The pain to my ears...

does anyone know whether elonex artisan lx is a good buy, or is advent better?
ah Oasis! Awesome live! Finsbury Park, about 3/4 years ago!
