Roger,
The PVR9200T doesn't have any external recording inputs other than the two built-in freeview receivers. You can, however record from two channels simultaneously whilst watching a recorded program or a third live channel (as long as it's on the same multiplex as one of the two recording channels) - A simple example of this would be you can record BBC 1 & Channel 5 all whilst watching BBC 2. The best way to find out is when your unit is recording two channels at once, channels you can't watch are "greyed out" in the EPG.
In respect to editing recorded programs on a PC - this is possible, if a little time consuming.
Transferring a movie, for example, from the Humax to PC can take more than an hour (approx 1Gb per hour recorded), although this might be quicker if I could get it to transfer whilst in standby (when fully powered up, the 9200T constantly records the last 30 minutes of whatever you're watching).
Then, once on your PC, you will need to convert it from MPEG TS (Transport Stream - used when transmitting over the air - more resiliant to corrupt or missing frames) into MPEG file format (less resiliant but smaller - someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's the difference). There's a few free utilities that do the job well enough. Once in MPEG file format, you can do whatever you want - including burn to DVD. Oh yeah - the eLinker program provided by Humax is basic but functional.
Hope this helps you guys

You need to turn up the volume on the PVR to maximum. Then the sound volume through your TV should be the same as your other input sources. By default the PVR volume is set to about 50%.

here is a good guide to editing recorded programs on a PC... http://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=224833 note also you may find it usefull to get a 'video restoration' box - It may be expensive, but do you want your tape conversions to look 'professional' or not???

I've just got onbe of these machines and don't know how to turn recorded programmes into DVD's - I have managed to upload them to my PC and watch them there via Elecard's free MPEG player but don't know either what format I need to save them in to play them as DVD's or how to change from the.ts format to the correct format for DVD - any help would be greatly appreciated

The easiest way is to connect up a dvd recorder and simply play the program.
|
 |
using a PC is not tha easiest way... have you tried my link, above??
NERO 7 will help you do it on a PC properly, if you want to pay for a proper solution - a bit cheaper than buying a DVD recorder, but you get what you pay for...

just a word of caution - these PVRs are great when they work, but I am on my 4th in 3 years. 2 Fusions & a Sagem have all suffered terminal hard drive problems; I am now on a Humax. I certainly wouldn't rely on one as an archive, & would consider extended warranty, although only 1 of the 3 lasted more than a year.

I am having trouble transfering recorded programmes from the PVR to a DVD recorder - originally I think I just had a scart from the recorder going to the PVR and another from the recorder to the TV set. That all seemed to work fine - until I unplugged it, now can't replicate the set up.

Help, i'm having real problems connecting the PVR to a DVD recorder - it was working for a while just fine - had scart connecting recorder to VCR scart in PVR - and was burning off programmes from the hard drive - then I moved it and can't replicate the set up! Have tried all kinds of combinations re. scarts and coax - just can't get it working - can someone tell me what ought to work?
