yamaha 2500 receiver overkill ?

can anyone advise, i have a kef q1 q9c q2ds kef 3000 sub spkr package,will the yamaha be overkill in my set up ? it sells for £545 at my local hi fi store and thats as low as i have seen it for new.i am using a pioneer 812 at the moment but i am itching to upgrade. any advise appreciated.

Go For it if you really want a yamaha your speakers are up to the job the 812 is a bit dated have you considered the Pioneer VSX-AX2AV-S ? it has one of the best sounds i have heard also with future proof 2 HDMI inputs, Forum Hi-Fi are selling it for £590 http://www.forumhifivisual.co.uk//pageview3.asp?cust=577&idx=11338&seton=1 a bit more expensive but for a £900 receiver a good price i have one myself and have had all other makes of receivers but the pioneer beats them all, my last four have been pioneer would not consider another brand

I would say that the 2500 ia a fine piece of hardware, and your speaker set is well balanced with it. People tend to think that the biggert the speaker, the better. I think that a good bookshelf, backed up with a nice subwoofer is oftenly superior to the equivalent floorstander.
