Yeah the Bauer TV's have an inherent problem with their power units. The power units are made by Phihong which have also stopped making that board.

All in all a fairly hard fix as you can't just whack a new supply in. I have 6 Bauers and it looks like the Electrolytic capacitor has failed frying the 5v transformer and circut in all of them.

I have some capacitors ordered so I will let you know how I get on. On that note if anyone has any blown Bauers that they no longer want I'll consider buying them.

Hi Matt,

We have an XT32 Bauer. Was given to us for Christmas. Another same  model in the family has gone up in smoke!

There are also two others in the family!   Was a bulk buy by my father in law.

I am very capable of replacing suspect PSU components. Can you let me know what components are causing the problem.

I would appreciate any help.

Check your warranty to see if you have an extended 2 or 3 year one. If so Bonus, take it back and get a new one.

If its out of warranty they won't give you a new one due to the generic power supply fault. I offer a repair service on the board for £50 if your competent enough to remove the board from the TV and happy to send it in the post.

Or I'll offer you £50 for the TV and repair it myself.

If your interested send me an email at Mattio16@yahoo.com

If your going to go for a new one, Hitachi and Goodmans make a nice LCD TV at a medium budget.

I bought an XT32 from ebay willens trading. It arrived without a remote or manual. I now have both of these but the helpline number takes you to homebuy and I was told that the number is wrongly directed to them! I got the remote but have the same problem setting this up as most people. Last week the tv blew up. I think I'd prefer to pass it for repair to someone fresh since I don't expect much joy from the supplier.

 Can anyone help me?
