Delighted at sampling those long forgotten 60s sounds (break out the Flares and the mind altering dr*gs)....(on second thoughts abort that last remark )
Beth Gibbons is an unknown quantity to me....listening now.....
She is very expressive both vocally and in terms of her performance......it definitely grows on you....
Hello All,got some catching up to do,60s music music never really got to me in the way that it does now,i was mainly into riding my bike, chasing the ladies, and generally having a whale of a time, its not since i really got into hi-fi that i started to hear what i,d missed all those years ago.Never heard of Beth Gibbons, who is she??.Am currently listening on CD, Mozarts Symphony No 39,by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, great, sounds awsome through my beloved trannies, and heres a suprise for you all,i am thinking of getting rid of them for a better pair of TDL,s,and if the deal goes through, well i,ll be the owner of the most awsome speaker ever built, and i do mean ever.Still havent got my Gyro back, the guy i,m in negotiations with said it shouldnt take more than 3-6 hours to change the arm,so i,m going to wait till next monday-tuesday then ask what the problem is.Off to my dealer to-morrow to enquire about McIintosh amps,i,ve decided to upgrade my Krells[pre as well]and after queries have proved promising,i think that i,ll be the owner of McIntosh pre and power before too long, though i do want one with a phono stage or a stage by the same maker.Just been informed that our guests have arrived,so its good night all.............Take Care........McIntosh Mush[sounds sordid doesnt it]
hoped you'd like the 60's...that's two of us.trying to catch up .....but friends have taught me most of them...but still trying to get one step ahead of them.....
Thought of you the other night in bed...woke up to hear that Classic fm have a compiled a series of classical works...about 20cds i think...but they mentioned Shostakovich...both you and Bill have posted him and I am getting to like the classical music. I'll try some Mozart now.
Beth Gibbons used to sing with Portishead...I like her voice. The songs are poetic and gentle. I daren't buy any more CDs....but this will be on the favourites for the next time. You told me about John Mayall's "Another Kinda Love" so I listened...and it probably is me. Glad you didn't post it on the perceptions thread. Tracked the album down and have brought "A Hard Road"...John Mayall's songs are difficult to listen to online.....unless you lke 30sec. snippets. I love his site. the photos look very innocent.
McIntoch is the clan of the "cat" and the tartan is black check on red!....I now have a better picture of you...complete with sporran and reeling on a lighter leg.!
Glad you liked the 60's link. I'll have to re-visit the site...they are all good but so varied...I know a lot of them from friends and they are simpler to remember than most songs.
Beth Gibbons CD si on my favourites list...but it'll have to wait a while.
