The following are extracts from actual letters sent to various Councils and Housing Associations throughout the UK. Perhaps the private sector attracts a better gene pool!:

Will you please send someone to mend the garden path. My wife tripped and fell on it yesterday and now she is pregnant.  We are getting married in September and we would like it in the garden before we move into the house.

Our kitchen floor is damp. We have two children and would like a third so please send someone round to do something about it.
  
I am a single woman living in a flat downstairs and would you please do something about the noise made by the man I have on top of me every night.
  
Please send a man with the right tool to finish the job and satisfy my wife.

Yes Gerald Racklin / Pepe Rush, has been vanquished, if ever their was an enigma he was it !

He may have been rude, sexist, homophobic, confrontational, an just plain crazy, but he was strangely likeable in a perverse sort of way and occasionally quite funny .

No worry Steve I'm back and will do my best, now a mate in New Zealand said they were having the wettest winter/simmer in history is this down to global warming or simply bad cables. Anyway temperature here 23 so pretty good for an Autumn day, have written some serious stuff to our dear dear friend Rik H on another thread, please do take a look.

Now it is a sad moment that sees the demise of that silly old sod Gerald Racklin, a man who in his hey day did actually contribute to the the audio experience here in London, theatre sound systems and a recording studio, but alas he has turned into a bitter and twistet old fart, such is the result of fame.

Anyway in your opinion what are the cable priorities, on a scale of 0 to 9, or 1 to 10 depending on how you think.

Sounds like a lovely autumn day, I had a look and replied on the forum that you replied to Rik on.

I cant really rate cables just to say speakers, components of course are most important but cables are important as your system is only as good as its weakest link.

Using a farming analogy someone once said about cables, you may a good creek/watersupply (components/speakers) but if your pipes are dirty, got crinks in it, has holes or is thin (cables) etc it will affect the flow of the water from the creek to the end of the hose - so cables are important as they carry the signal or power to the various components - of course you would know all that.

English language is a minefield.

Here's a book you would like 'eats shoots and leaves', I always thought that was a NZ joke about blokes but apparently there is a book out there that dissects the language, sounds interesting.

However my understandig was a bloke taking a girl out for a meal, giving her one then pissing off.

My brothers reasoning was the gramatical difference between a cowboy coming to town, having a meal and then shooting the barman, the difference is apparantly just commas.

Example a Panda - eats shoots and leaves, that is totally correct, but in the cowboy scene it should be 'eats, shoots, and leaves

I had the same problem....(not about John)  but I like Jazz and that puts you in a group with High self-esteem .....and anyone who really knows me knows that's not true!!!!  It's that's low that have to tunnel to meet me eye to eye...

I know what you mean. I have a fondness for certain types of Jazz (one most recently recommended by you in fact ) and also my classical collection is much bigger than my heavy metal collection...so where does that put me on the self-esteem gradient

I also have some "pop" but would not consider myself overly outgoing....

I think I've just posted an Indie artist on teh Music section  So I take offense at being thought of as " not hard working"  and "not gentle"  On the other hand it depends on what I've been asked to do! ( and sometimes by who!)....

You're right...we're a mixed bunch.
