Hi, When I go into copy to to put a program in from the HD onto a disc I now find that after downloading the program on to the disc it starts to Finalize the disc which I dont want to happen. I have obviously altered  something but have no idea what. There should be a box somewhere with a yes or no in it to finalize or not to finalize. I cant find it! Perhaps someone who has this recorder could tell me what I should do. Hope I have put this in the right Topic! Thank you.

   on page 33, says all discs apart from ram will be finalised. Hope this is of help. .....Carl.

Im losing my patience with this thing. I have recorded over a hundred ordinary discs dvd+r etc without coming across `Copy starts in high speed mode (thats fine) then it says `Finalize the disc to play it on other dvd player`Disc becomes play only. I have the manual in front of me. On page 55 where Finalize appears its a bit gobbledygook apart from the block headed Finalize with yes or no in it. If I could find that it might help. I can format the disc to remove programs Ive finished with but not always and Ive never had to do that before. I dont know whether it has anything to do with it but when I go into copy and select a program to put on disc instead of a list to choose from I get oblongs with a picture of the start of the program which I have in the HD. Not made myself very clear but if you can help  much appreciated.

Hi Bill,

 If you record to DVD+R the recorder will automatically finalize these as they are record write once only,

you can re wright over and over again only on DVD RW + or RW - and DVD ram discs,

This is what page 55 is telling you.

 Still think its strange that even when I try a DVD-RW to record on from the hdd it still ends up being finalized. Wish I could find that yes or no Finalize opposite Finalise on page 55. Dont know if Auto Play Select has anything to do with it which is above Finalize. Does start with `Before finalization etc The rest means nothing to me Top Menu etc.

Think the fact that Im well into my 80s is causing my brain to addle and I cant fathom out problems `like what I used to`

Hi Bill,

The only possible thing i can see is the auto play, and disc protection on page 54 -55 select off or no ? the RW disc will finalise to eject disc from player/rec, but if you reload same disc it should be possible to rec further content with the space left on disc if any.
