I have a budget of around £2000 for a 'floor standing speaker' what are my choices, personnally I like the 'Monitor Audio GS60's' in mind, purely because they look nice and equally should sound good too, or the 'ProAc Studio 140's' as they sound exceptionally good, or maybe the B&W's? I like a BRIGHT sound, also into Soul and Funk '80's style, probably link the speakers to an 'Arcam 350' etc?

Your suggestions would be most welcome and appreciated!!!

Loudspeakers are such a system-sound defining element,(and a heavily room dependent device into the bargain) the best advice is to try before you buy?  Any dealer worth his salt will be happy to lend and setup a selection of speakers (not all at once ) for you in your own home.

More often than not speakers that sound good in the showroom, disappoint the buyer in his own home with his own amplification, so it's important that your ancillaries are used for the evaluation. Trust your ears....
