Are you going to see this film? Or will it be just another movie on history, nobility and unlucky and vorbidden relationship? I really like Keira Knightley so I want to see the movie. But you opinions will be helpful for me! Thanks,

Hi Melanie, Just viewed the film trailer http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi176947481/ Looks like it's well produced. An 18th century period drama with an intrguing love interest. Filmed at various historic locations...so I'd love to see it. Some I believe are not open to the public..so our only chance to see them : Chatsworth, Bath, Holkham Hall, Norfolk Clandon Park, Kedleston Hall and Greenich University, London. So regardless of the acting etc. it has a draw for me.

Hi Tamara, you here??? I read a couple of reviews over the weekend and now I am sure to watch this movie. I also saw the trailer and I really fancy it. Thanks for your reply... Regards Melanie

Hi Melanie, Don't be surprised . I am just picky about which ones I view...this sounds great. Reading the film reviews. i like this one. This is a parallel to the history we've lived through and may be the drawing point for many..... "Like Princess Diana, her direct descendent, Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire was beautiful, glamorous and adored by the public. But while her beauty and charisma made her a household name, one thing always seemed to escape her: love." to read the rest http://www.screenrush.co.uk/film/fichefilm_gen_cfilm=130305.html All the best..

Hi, I read the review and it scares me a bit how close it seems to be to Dianas live. But I hope this fact will not be overrated. I smiled about Keiras "bad hair days"...

..."and the film’s use of Diana to sell tickets is not quite as controversial as it may seem."... I read the article and now the story scares me even more....I sounds like a good story but it is also a huge fluke that the two women seem to have the same CV. I will go and see the movie at the weekend because I am so excited about it now. Today is the opening night at Leicester Square. Unfortunately I cannot be there....

 |
Hi Melanie, I'l look forward to reading your comments then ..NO SPOILERS....but an honest opiniion would be great. I don't know when it's here. Part of the interest has to be making comparisons...but will we ever know the truth in either case?

Hi Melanie, Kedelston Hall have an exhibiion opening on 18th August. entitled "The Duchess Exhibition" showing the five rooms and parklands used during the filming.......Kedleston Hall relived its days of Georgian grandeur and was used in the film to depict Althorp (the Spencer family home), Devonshire House in London and a rented villa in Bath. See the replica flooring used for filming, costumes and photos.... That is worth a visit.

Hey Tamara, thanks for the information on the exhibition. I will go there. I was at the cinema yesterday and what should I say....the movie was amazing. It was full of emotions and Keira is defenitely the best actress who could express the feelings of the young Georgiana Spencer. There was not much action or things happening but this wasn't neccessary. The desperation and fear of the Dutchess was enough to fill the whole movie with energy and tension. I could feel the hate towards the Duke of Devonshire and also suffer the pain of Georgiana. Maybe it is one of the best movies of the year....I can fully recommend it. But after I left the cinama and thought about a comparision to Diana I couldn't find a commonness. Their lifes just seem similar when you pick the right scenes out of the movie (as the trailer does for no question). But when you see the whole movie the life of Georgiana and Diana have nothing in common. Well this was my impression of the Dutchess.... I am happy I've seen it.

Hi Melanie, You've just described the best kind of movie experience for me...where you get caught up in the emotional experiences of the characters....you kind of live it with them. Strange how the period setting doesn't alter that.. I wondered about the comparisons. I am reassured by your review. I am glad that there are only passing references to Diana as it were .......I personally am sick of hearing about them...but fascinated with this film!!!

Go and watch te movie and you will never spend any minute on thinking about a comparison. I am convinced that it is just for selling the movie. It would also be possible to compare the Dutchess' life with other womens destiny but Diana is the most popular and advertising woman for the movie. I think it wasn't the best idea of the producers to get this ball rolling. But nevertheless it is worth a watch. After I've seen the movie I was glad to live in a modern world with several rights for women. I am not a feminist but I felt sorry for the helplessness of the women of the 18th century. But beside this the movie also adresses actual topics like rape, forced marriages and cheating.

 |
Hi Melanie, This film is becoming even more irresistible. I am not a feminist either but I do believe in equal rights.......still today's issues. Often, a film will provoke serious debate about them and especially when the setting isn't too threatening. Ie..we can talk about then / then and not now directly our selves.

Well, I'm going to see it, as I am in it as an extra. So I'm hoping I might get a brief glimpse of myself in costume. Before you ask, yes I'm in scenes with Keira and Ralph. J.

 |
Tell us more Who do you play? I want to know the scene and who you are I am a bit curious as you might have mentioned...
