Would it be possible to have some sort of scoring attached to posts about movies. I.e. posters can vote on movie threads and it can have a running star system at the head of the post. Another idea, I've just started purchasing Blu-Ray and it would be good to vote on the HD quality as personally I find some of the films are atrocious quality! Just a thought

Agree with the movie voting. Which films were 'atrocious'? I know some are simply (VERY badly) upscaled dvds! Meaning watching the dvd would actually be better (Which is completely taking the p*ss). I believe 'Escape from New York' is one

Hi Gary, Know what you mean, i purchased 300 DVD in HD, the tint the producers put on for visual effect got on my nerves ? feature films are not recorded using Hd cameras so the content is only upscaled, so what is the point in having blu ray ? documentaries like planet earth, or live shows filmed in HD are the only discs i purchase in HD, because of this.

My copy of Black Hawk Down was terrible, really grainy. Unless thats the effect Scott was aiming for! I have heard that Warner Bros seem to be the worst culprits. A borrowed copy of Goodfellas seemed pretty poor as well.

hmmmmm As I understand it, MOST film makers still use the old style cameras (NONE digital) and then it CAN be converted to digital in any resolution they so desire (Digital cinema screens are WAY more detailed for example). So its sheer lazyness for the most part ~ rather than convert from the source material they simply convert from the 'already engineered' dvd, warts and all I have a few blurays. XMEN 3 (doesnt look too great, though certainly better than the dvd), Superbad (pretty good actually), Casino Royale (Clearly better than the dvd), Mad Max2 (The detail unearthed compared to the dvd is staggering, and this is a film thats getting on a bit now) and Planet Earth (Mostly gorgeous, but does show signs of 'digital artefacting' in some scenes)

Hi Rik, We must be on the same wave length to have posted similar replies at the same time !!

It's not a bad idea. Some forums have a poll format that could be used.

Good idea, I'll see if we can get it sorted. In the meantime though, when you post a film review in the Film section, you could include a rating in the title eg X-Men 3 3/5. And of course you can add whatever ratings you want, for whatever categories, in the review itself.

Ive actually found the reverse true as well Some dvds are WORSE quality than they should be just to make the bluray look better! region1s IRON MAN should be way better than it is
