Are the Pro Ac 140 speakers a perfect match for a Cyrus system?

Hi guys,

Does anyone have a Cyrus system that includes the Pro Ac 140 speakers? If so, how good is this pairing?

I have a complete Cyrus system comprising of a CD8x, Dac XP, 2 power supplies and 2 monoblocks.  I bought the ProAc studio 140's to go with this system and the results were frankly awful.  The sound was very coloured and the bass flabby, much detail and neutrality was lost.  A friend lent me some Jamo Concert 11's, a £2400 floor stander from about 5-8 years ago.  The improvement was night and day.  Detail, clarity and imaging were excellent.  As a result I bought a pair of these second hand for £700 and sold my ProAcs that were only 3 months old.  The ProAcs work well with the likes of Naim gear.  For Cyrus, avoid at all costs.

I have a proac 140 driven by primare I30 and Cd 30. The proacs sound quite bright and too clinical for my liking. I previouly had a cyrus to partner the proac 140. It was even worse which makes me wonder whether Proac 140 is the culprit!

I just auditioned a pair of Proac 140s with my Cambridge Audio 840a v2 and my Unison Research CD player...

...exciting is the word that comes up in my mind most often... certainly not clinical... detailed and controlled with a natural ability to capture the quality of music being played... definitely not clinical

the speakers were still running in and were forward in the upper midrange and sometimes restricted in the middle and lower bass (I can't imagine these speakers sounding good with the Cyrus or Naim on that account).

If the midrange shout were to settle and the bass drivers to loosen, I'd be into buying these. I am also auditioning a pair of Monitor Audio GS20.... smooth, detailed, tonally even and very controlled... capable of sounding extremely realistic, but clinical is a word you could use with these speakers... certainly nothing wrong with that either tho... accurate is a more positive adjective.. but the proacs better captured the spirit of music.
