Hi Bill & Tamara Anthony Hopkins is a brilliant actor, but i didn't think much of the fastest indian film. Worth a buy at only £2.99 though. I like The Edge Not one of his best known films but still good all the same. Kind Regards SB

Just watched a trailer to THe Edge.. I agree it shows Antony Hopkins at his best. Angry and fired-up. Not a typical location for him, that interests me.... The Fastest Indian is an atypical film for Hollywood ad Antony Hopkins.. That iis it draw for me. The The iconic landscape is worth wathing too. He plays a man of 68...testing himself and his machine over tough terrain. Inspirational storyline.....But what intrigues me is "how does it tests the actor?"

One of the truly great things about Anthony Hopkins is...he's Welsh
|
 |
The Welsh know how to breed good uns...Richard Burton...Katherine Zeta Jones...
|
 |
Richard Burton - War of the Worlds narrator ! Speaking of which I'm still waiting for delivery of the Wembley Concert... Must check as it's taking too long...

Manufactured Landscapes (2007) Zeitgeist Films photographer: Edward Burtynsky This film shows some extra-ordinary clips of "everyday life" It is spectactular. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jv23xwe0BoU He just explores our relationship to this planet. We extract things from the environment to survive, and damage the world. Even the recycling depots are awesome and distressingly huge. His photography is beautiful

Can we now change the topic of the forum and start with a flashback on the film year 2008? Are your expectations fulfilled you had at the beginning of the year? How do you like the Dark Knight or Hellboy2? Your personal favourite 2008? I had no special movie preferences at the beginning of the year but i have a favourite now (maybe I should wait for the new James Bond): The Dutchess! I wrote a short impression on the movie into another forum thread...if you are interested you can read it there!

The Dark Knight is absolutely awesome. The only drawback for me is Batmans horrible voice, and the fact theres NO gothic architecture (And yet there was in Batman Begins ). Other than that its just incredible. Gotta be my top film of 08. The Orphanage is a fantastic film too ~ some great surround effects in it and its VERY atmospheric. Iron man is a good 'fun' film. I watch a LOT of films actually and my heads gone blank

'In Bruges' was my favourite.

Thanks for your interesting reply. There is one fact I had to smile on: How have you recognised that there is no gothic architecture? Have you read about it before or are you interested in architecture? I think I would never have recognised a change of the props.... And I couldn't find anything on the movie The Orphanage? Never heared about it

Batmans all ABOUT gothic (Thus GOTHam), its so VERY dark. I used to read the comics way back when (And even have some graphic novels now). Its one of the reasons I love Batman ~ so was a bit gutted to see him going about a city that didnt have any (At least not that I perceived when I saw it) The Orphanage is actually a Spanish horror (Which is perhaps why you missed it) The Orphanage IMDB If you ever want to look up a film goto IMDB ~ they have the VAST majority of films there (Though not everything) IMDB

A nod MUST goto 'No Country For Old Men'. Absolutely awesome film. The acting and directing is second to none. The bad guy is SCARY ASS bad, and what a GREAT tool he uses! Anton Chigurh 'Jumper' was dumb but fun and 'Cloverfield' was my kinda film. Big ass monster terrorising the city

AAAAAAAAAA, I haven't seen any of the films you suggest. But at least I am relieved to hear that you into the Batman story and your specific knowledge on the Gothic details is pure interest. Thanks for the IMDB tip - I will have a look on it when you will suggest any further movies I don't know

I am sure you have seen the new one Is it a movie that's worth to buy on DVD? You know I was GOING to see it. But 3 of my friends told me its awful! I personally havnt seen it myself but they sure put me off watching it (Though I doubt its 'AWFUL', probably more a 'let down') Ill get round to it, but its certainly nothing IM getting excited about!

The Dark Knight was brilliant - easily the best film of the year. The acting from everyone was so good. I have just seen Sweeney Todd on DVD and was a bit disappointed really. There isn't really much to the story and most of the dialogue is sung, which put me off a bit. Visually it looks great though.

Maybe I just should get over my fear and watch the dark knight...I was always against the movie because I read it's very brutal. I am obviously a girly girl and I am not a fan of such kind of movies. But everybody I asked about it says it was brilliant. I should try it otherwise I will always have the impression I missed something...
