Yes right Carl, anyway looking at the numbers I would have to break a posting down to single letters to get above Tamara, and we know it would not be physically possible to say more than a woman, so I will drop that line. John...

John, We, mere males are no match, you will have to put some serious input, on the music thread to get the numbers your looking for ? .......HA ! ......Carl.

Hi John, Carl, Tamara, Tamara....thanks for providing an amusing diversion with the psychology test. Reading others responses to the test was even more amusing... Question 13 : "The main thing in life is...." ....was particularly telling about the respondent. In answer one person wrote "my work" (...that guy DOES need treatment ! ) while another wrote "Chocolate"....now that's more like it !! All the best....................................Bill.

Hi Bill, Carl, John I am glad someone saw the funny side: I read the worries and have rushed to the mirror to check for nasal hair (it never entered my head before)...... another one which I thought referred to great worries read BOOBS and I thought how did she know about my boobs?...then I thought..she must mean hers...when I re-read it it was concluding the sentence "most women have.... This is serious stuff even when you read it!

Hi Bill, Carl, John Fisher and allI I am aware that everyone uses the expression golden ears and there is always a lively debate about what canbe heard etc. I guess it's our only reliable gauge when it comes to listening to the HI-fi...This is a entitled "Do you hear What I Hear?" http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/mind/surveys/synaesthesia/hear/ I'd be interested to find out what results you get. I haven't done it yet because lunch is ready but will soon.

Tamara....I think in the colour test I proved their theory but only because I second guessed them before I answered.....the colour was meaningless to me. After that it was murder.... All the best................................Bill.
|
 |
Interestingly...in the verbal association test....at no point did I press the button for the word "calm"... Perhaps if they had replaced that word with "annoying" or "manic"...I would have selected that one every time Cheers............................Bill.

Hi Bill, I did the test. I too proved their theory right......No flash of colour either!.....but it reminded me of a radio programme (real life) where a woman kept telling her co-workers that the yellow phone was ringing....or red or....until one day they told her all the phones were black....she obviously did associate noise with colour...A handly skill in a large office

Hi Bill, The "music" was definitely like nothing else you'll experience hopefully (Unless you have a house full of kids blowing grass (you know between thumbs..not the other sort) BUT you couldn't associate it with any preconceived ideas about music.

Oh no I've really lost the plot, I picked the colours without a second thought - apparently that put me with 71% of the population, maybe I have that 'disability' they speak of. Perhaps when I listen to music I am enjoying the colours and that is why I never hear a cable. Many years ago I did 'lightshows' on bands, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and The Doors included, and that (seeing colour) is the very essence of a light-show. Interesting test, thanks. John...

 |
Hi John I doubt that there's anything wrong with you! Your mention of light shows reminded me of this incident recently in Russia. I am sure you've read it. http://technology.newscientist.com/article/dn14310 If it happened there would be a few lawsuits.....

No I hadn't, did you mean to say 'if it happened here...' Fortunately lasers were not around when I did my stuff as I'm sure I would have used them if they were however I did get a laser in 1982 and realised that from the practically zero divergence they could be very dangerous, even 10mW in as little space as 0.1mm is a seriously bright light. Interesting link John...

Hi John Well spotted. I was rushing to rescue tea and thinking ahead...or trying. It is quite worrying that they suggest that they were being used by ill-trained personnel.

Hi All, Took the test, and ??? have never associated those type of tones with any colour, ever ? now types of music, funeral type with black, blues with blue etc:, but on thinking about it i grew up with record labels, with colour on them and now associate my music with the colour of that label, bit different with CD, no thought of colour at all, Bill Tamara, have i missed the point to this test ???? Doh !!!

Hello All, re colour smoking a bit of grass makes music sound like different colours that is for sure, the same sort of think can happen if you drop some acid this makes the most fantastic colour patterns, I suppose Special Brew can also make this happen not sure who to ask but someone must know on AV Review. Hi Carl, Well done! The test would tell you if you suffered from...Synaesthesia. a mixing of your senses..in this case noise/sounds with colour....I imagine they are sampling the population to work out how many of us have it. ie. the lady who heard her phone rings in colour.(posted earlier) It can happen to any of us with any of our senses. Some say babies do have it but grow to recognize the appropriate sense. Some people don't or are unfortunate enough to have head injuries or strokes which alter their perceptions. As they say 71% of the population associate high notes with bright/light colour and low with dark colours....these could be learnt responses...same with emotions... I think you understood the test, You certainly recognised that you have learnt to associate colour and sounds/emotions.....Radio 4 did a series on people with this condition. I know these are learnt - a funeral party at college wore white....but that was appropriate to their culture (shocking to mine!)The people I felt sorry for were those whose sense of smell was affected by a colour and could result in intense vomiting....
|
 |
Hi Gerald, Wondered where you were...Take the test and let us know the results....if your perceptions have been altered - you could be the exception to our normality

Hi All, My perception is that someone is messing about with this site, it would have to be someone with extensive computer knowledge , perhaps a software writer and someone with a grudge , he or she would have to be trying either to cover up something or just plain prove to everyone of they are more intelligent than everyone else and of course always right, or they could be trying to frame someone, i suppose it could be anyone. I hope they stop it soon as I'm sure it is spoiling every ones fun. Annoyed Electro.
