If the amp can handle it is it ok to biwire speakers of different ohms or would the speakers get damaged? Thanks

Simon, I don't really understand the question but, 4 ohms is a higher impedance than 6 8 or 16 ohms and it is harder on the amplifier that is trying to drive them not the speakers. The main problem will be the difference in sound levels between the two as the sound levels coming out of the 4 ohm speakers wil be lower than the 8 ohm speakers because they are harder to drive. Could damage your amp. Hope this helps. Cheers. Paul.

Paul,
I won't take the risk.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Really appreciate it.
Thanks

Simon, thanks for the reply. At lower volume levels it will probably not hurt the amp but the more you try to drive them the harder it gets on the amp. As I said, the sound levels from the 4 vohms will be less than the 8 ohm speaker, just don't turn the the volume level up too much and everything should be OK if you want to try it. Cheers. Paul.

Just remember that if you wire up two or more speakers (doesn't matter whether it's biwiring one speaker or wiring several individual speakers in parallel) the resistance of the ciruit they make can be very low, and certainly not to be risked if you are fond of your amplifier. Biwiring is ok if the amp can take the low resistance provided, but no amp will like the absurdly low resistance it would be possible to get by wiring up multiple speakers in parallel. It would be another matter if you wired them up in series, then the problem would be an enormous resistance and your amp wouldn't be at any risk of damage but would struggle to drive them at all and it may end up sounding rather pathetic.

I have a 70 watt per channel amp and i'm trying to drive 200 watt speakers.I sort of know this is fairly fine, but would it be wiser to get a more powerful amp to drive my speakers,i have noticed that it don't seem to pump the bass out as i would like,so would a more powerful amp help this, thank you.
